“The Person I Really Am”

By: Jason Linder

I’ve opened my eyes now,

And I can see just how

You’ve made me act like a fool

Into what you thought was cool.

But I’ve had enough

Just stop today

What you do to me

Is not okay

Cause while you force me to be something I’m not

The pain inside is all that I got.

I am what I am

No matter what you say

I’ll do what I want

Throw your lies away.

I am who I am

No matter what you do

I’ll be who I want to be;

With or without you.

The clothes I wear

The way I style my hair,

It’s what you want me to be

But it just isn’t me.

The places I go

And the people I know

I know all those things because of you

Your hold is getting weaker

My will is growing stronger

Let me go into the light

I can’t stand this any longer!

I am what I am

I don’t want to stay

I’ll do what I want

I don’t care what you say.

I am who I am

There’s nothing you can do

I’ll be who I want to be

With or without you.

You used to show me how much you cared,

With your cute little laughs and your soft little sighs.

But the woman with whom I had fallen in love

Has been buried beneath all of her lies!

I am what I am

Not just you’re made up sham

I’ll do what I want

I won’t take this anymore

I am who I am.

If you don’t like it I will walk out the door.

I’ll be who I want to be

With or without you!
