Too Late To Notice

She lay there in the black and white casket waiting to be carried away. Her mother cried endlessly, letting the streams of tears roll down her face as she saw her daughter lay there, cold and emotionless. Sorrow fell upon the people, and silence reigned. All those who were close were also crying, showing only sadness and grief on their faces.

'Why was it her? Why did it happen to her?' was the question that crossed through everyone's mind. They looked at her slim body sadly. She was just a girl, why was it that she was the fated one to die in the small city. Seconds had gone by like minutes and minutes like hours. The casket was placed into the grave and buried. Her mother and father glanced at the tombstone. Seeing their daughter lay there had broken their hearts. They could never see her face again, they never spent any of their time with her, and had not valued the time given to them to share smiles and laughs with her. Now, no one could smile and laugh with her anymore, because she was not with them anymore.

Maybe life was too much for her to handle. That is why she did it, why she died. She did not die by the hands of others, but the pain that was given to her by others. No one knew why she died, only she knew, because she was the one who had taken it upon herself, and ended her own life. People call it suicide. Not one could understand why she did what she did. This was fate, and now no one could rewind time. They thought she had left to the heavens. She had murdered herself and none could stop it, because they were too late to notice.

Not a single soul noticed that she was gone until one day after her disappearance, but it did not really matter to her, she was used to it. She was a ghost, lingering on the streets, pondering on thoughts after death. Heaven nor hell refused to accept her and so she was left on earth to watch people die, laugh, cry, and everything about everyday life. She remembered how she had died again. She had a knife in her hands, and drew pictures on her arms, where a fountain of red liquid formed. Only she noticed this, but she did not care because it soothed her pain, it made all her troubles go away. That was when she advanced more. Instead of taking her troubles away, why not keep it away permanently. She took a knife and held it to her throat. The only thought came into her head was "Do it" and "You won't have to suffer like this anymore...banish yourself from this hateful world...". She obeyed her thoughts, locked the room and stood silently, she felt the tears falling down her face. Minutes passed, and the girl lay there in her room, surrounded by a puddle of her own blood. She only realized it now, as a ghost, that it was a stupid thing to do. She wanted to breathe, laugh, smile, and cry now more than ever, but she cannot, because she did not have a second chance of life. She thought herself as foolish for doing such an idiotic thing.

No one noticed her existence, no one cared of her presence, and no one knew how much she meant to them until she died. They never knew how much she did for them just to impress them, to be acknowledged by them until she left and could not do it anymore, everything changed. It was only then did humans realize that one does not know what they need, want or love until they had lost it.
