I strive for him and
I smile for him and
blood pulses in my hands for him

shift your weight nervously steal a sideways glance at me
dispel all rumour and all distaste
put your hands on me, steadily, and pull me closer
I can smell the dust and the sweat and some glimmer of will
it seeps out of your pores and I can taste it as
I nestle my head against your neck.
and I hear your pulse like footsteps on a marble floor
hands hesistate but you let your reaction soar
I know what comes next
I've seen this in my trying mind before.

too casually leaning against the door in self-defense
just like me to tempt you and then refuse to let you in
maybe we should be careful but my aim is high, and sincere
I promise this next move will redeem you
would you let me rescue you from a life you were guilted into

would you let me be so haughty as to say that
I could give you purpose
