even angels die
tumble to the earth
broken
bone and spirit entwined
will and not-flesh fused
with bits of feather drifting in their wake

even angels break
shatter with the force
sinners
wings and power buckling
hope and muscle lack
with strength of sorrow cracking fragile souls

even angels sin
falter in the dark
mortal
thought and action shaping
mind and matter done
with calls of regret burning now-lost light
