Not mine

An explaination for why i refuse to confide in people, everybody has enough to worry about without adding myself to the list, i've been very selfish recently and have scared too many people, all i can do is apologise, i really do appreciate that you care.

Not mine

A casket.

A lacquered box

Scattered with your ashes.

Your jewellery.

I pick up the bracelet

And put it around my neck

And turn the catch,

Around,

And around.

I replace it quickly

And slam the lid,

On memories,

That aren't even mine.

And I take out that little Chinese lock,

Hidden in the Turkish pot,

On the window sill.

And I slide the keeper in

To do my job

For me

Because I can't handle the responsibility any more
