I Didn’t Tell

Today you told me something that I thought you’d never say,

You told me the reason why you hurt me in this way.

You didn’t know you hurt me, you still don’t know today,

But I told you something I thought you should know well:

I didn’t tell.

You had my love like you never knew you did,

You tested for my loyalty like I never knew you did.

So this is why, this is the reason, that’s what you did,

But you hurt me for no reason as you put me through your hell:

I didn’t tell.

You say you want to trust me, to believe in what I say,

But my life’s a series of secrets and lies, so I don’t think you will anyway.

I wanted us to work out but don’t think we will even today.

Perhaps you were right not to catch me as I fell,

But know this: I didn’t tell.
