Old Stake Road
Author:
K. Silence PM
The death of my brother (my best friend) at the age of 17 inspired this one. Though, words alone can't describe the loss that death brings I'm sure you'll feel the emotion of this poem...

Old Stake Rd.

unsteady hands, reaching out for one grasp of something real

tired eyes, just follow the trail of tears that lead away

down a road, you're waiting there for me

on a lonely street you're waiting patiently

a silent tree, restless but refusing to release it's hold on me

echos soft, around a curve, the crash of a fate that need not be

down the old stake rd, you're waiting there for me

on that winding street you're waiting patiently

companions, but pulled away by the limbs of a growing pine

together, then ripped away by the cruel hands of time

down a darkened street, please wait there for me

I'll run to you, just wait so patiently

When I see you smile these tired eyes will never lose their glow

When I hold you again, these unsteady hands will never let you go

We'll not return to old stake rd, we'll not return…

(N/A: This is my favorite poem. I believe I feel my own emotions all over again each time I read this poem. I hope you have enjoyed it, or rather gathered the picture of how losing a best friend/brother or loved one can be. You've no choice to wait, because they can't return. But the good thing is… they'll not return to the pain and sorrows of this world. So in the end, just know that whatever is out there, or not out there that they're in perfect peace. And only the memories that we can keep of them will keep them alive in our mind.)
