Industrial lights gleam

The same way that cheap sequins do

When they’re caught in the sand

On one of those

Partly cloudy summer mornings

Vibrant marigold nomads

Scavenge the dense pavement

And slip along

Others scaffolding of dreams

Keeping in mind that nothing

Is too taboo for a barbarian

I caught a glimpse

Of the secret life of an angel

When darkness was curling in

Close around heavy architecture

And heat was radiating

Off of their tireless urban world
