Midnight Sun

Every time I felt like letting go,

Every time life felt too heavy,

You’d take me by the hand.

I would turn to you always;

I could tell you’d understand.

I can always count on your smile,

Your laugh, your eyes, your caress.

When I’m wrapped in your gentle touch,

I wonder if my heart will burst,

Just from feeling so much.

And I know I can find you anywhere, anywhen,

During the darkest day, beneath the midnight sun.

Yet I feel like I’m cheating you out of love,

‘Cause when you reach out, all I want is to run.

Why don’t we just sit idly by

As life runs its outrageous course;

And take it slow on our own.

Right now you’re my one and only

The keeper of the feelings I’ve shown.

One day we can take leave of this place and

Under our midnight sun, we’ll let our new love blossom.

We’ll find a new dwelling just for us;

Our passion as a symbol, our whispers as an anthem.
