Shadows

Shadows in the fathomless night

Lurking just beyond my sight

Whispers, shouts, cry of pain

Pierce through the silence of the rain.

Shadows in the alleyway creep

Towards me like little lost sheep

Unaware is how they catch their prey

But they retreat from the light of day.

Their power is entwined with the night

I shall never let them leave my sight

I am the one that shall beat them back

And make them cower in their tracks.
