The Long Awaited Return

Zhen stood at the place she remembered as Xiao’s House. Only, she could imagine that Sun was in charge, and that brought a smile to her face.

There were only three more people she had to face, including Sun, and she couldn’t wait to finish them.

She didn’t even wait in the rain this time. She paused, only for a moment, smiled, and kicked the door in.

That fast arrows and needles and stars flew at her. She blocked them all in quick, sporadic movements. She sliced through one, without even looking at him, then another split second battle that ended in a sword through his stomach, then pulled it out and stared at Sun Mi, who gasped.

She flicked her sword clean, and the blood flew all over Sun’s face, not to mention her own or the walls, which, were a permanent and bright red.

Sun inhaled, and bowed as she shook a bit. No words were exchanged, but both of them knew they had to settle it between them.

She ttacked Sun, who blocked it and countered it with a slash to her arm. Several more quick slashes, she dodged and sliced at Sun, then kicked her. Sun kicked back up, bringing the wide movements of her butterfly swords into play. She jumped in a move that knocked the door out and landed them both outside. She continued it, as Zhen dodged, and in two quick movements had disarmed Sun and took one of her arms. Sun shouted with a mouth full of blood.

And guess who showed up.

Master Yao, determined not to lose her. He threw two swords at Sun, who grabbed and blocked them both, and continued with Zhen. He shouted as he tried to intervene and in a half second, Zhen stopped him with two large needles, pinning his arms to the building.

She didn’t want him to die for her…

Sun continued her erratic, large movements, but Zhen just kept blocking until she had her opening…

Another arm flew off, then a leg. Sun sank to her knees.

Zhen drove both weapons threw her chest, then sliced off Sun Mi’s head.

“I’m sorry…”

A quick chant cut short…

Zhen stuck her sword through her chest and heaved up blood, as she gasped for breath.

No!!!

Master Yao ripped himself up from the wall and ran to her.

“Why? Why Zhen?”

“Because, I am no good to the world.”

“No no no…. please,” he asked, tears forming.

“It is far too late now.”

“Why did you have to come here?”

“It was my- purpose.”

He held her close to his bare, sweaty chest as his heart seemed to beat for hers.

“I- love- you.”

He nodded, as he held her close.

“Zhen… you were always my zhen..my calm.”

She smiled, as she passed away, as her soul drifted into the heavens, immortalized and redeemed….
