What’s the best way to see a man fall?

Leave him alone crying,

Let him die trying,

Leave him broken hearted by a woman’s charms,

Send him off to war with battle arms.

Leave him broken,

Alone and still,

To hell he’ll sink,

Given up without a will.

What drives a man to use?

Family bitter, dysfunctional ties,

Wallowing in a cesspool of lies,

Pressure and pain, driven deep in his heart,

An escape that tears him apart.

Leave him broken,

Alone and hating,

For now he’s lost,

Life and death his debating.

What causes a man to drink?

Depression takes his mind away,

His world fallen in disarray,

Loss of loved one, times unwell,

Hundreds of possibilities, can we ever tell?

Leave him broken,

Alone and thinking,

Thinks his life’s a waste,

Reaching for the bottle, starts drinking.

What leads a man to suicide?

Loneliness, confusion,

Awakened from his illusion,

Paranoia, war, insanity,

Veiled by darkness no eyes to see.

Leave him broken,

Alone and insecure,

But on the edge he learns,

Nothing is ever for sure.

What can be done to save him?

Point the finger to the safety zone,

Remind him he’s never alone,

And if he still doesn’t come back,

That’s one more loved one we lack.

Can’t leave him broken,

Alone and still,

Someone must try to raise him,

Because without help he never will.

So step up and teach him what’s wrong with this picture.
