It's been so long

Since I built these walls around myself

So long since I exchanged the truth about my life

For a lie you could believe

That I've shed reality and donned

A mask that more closely resembles

Who you expect to see when you look at me

And I've shed the person I know I am

To become the lie I am living

-

So much has been distorted

That it is no longer me you see

But this image I have conceived

From the depths of my being

Standing in my place

In the charade I have allowed

My life to become

Reality begins to fade

As the illusion takes its place

And I find I'm fading with it
