When the trumpets sound

You must bow down,

And worship the statue of gold.

And should you refuse,

You'll witness the hues

of fire in our furnace - behold!

The brassy tone rings clear

For the world to hear

As each man falls facedown to earth,

Save three boys who remained,

Brave eyes heavenward trained,

Despite the threat of that fatal hearth.

Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego

Out of life pepared to go.

"One God have we.

We're His, and He

Will save us from your fire."

"You'll die today

Unless you obey!"

Replied the king

To show the boys their consequence was dire.

Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego

Had faith within their hearts to know...

"Our God will save us."

"And even if he does not, we will not bow down and worship your gods."

The boys were seized,

The King a pleased-ish

Look upon his countenance fair,

But the blaze that night

Could not ignite

A single strand of Israelite hair.
