The sun is setting

I can't feel the cold set in

It gnaws at my paling skin

And envelopes my heart

Pounding like the ticking clocks

Resounding in my head

-

Finally a shiver runs down my spine

A breath settles, but not my last

For there are many more to come

Before the last one is out

Before the room is silent

Before my chains are broken

-

Another sunrise greets me

Once seeming so infinite

But now are numbered

Passing like a fire in the wind

Leaving sluggish embers on the ground

That cling so desperately to life

Before they are ravaged by the wind

And only ashes remain, forgotten and carried away

-

The last sunrise sinks beneath the earth

Cold again comes to indwell me

Ticking slows to a stop

As the hourglass empties

Final breath settles inside me

The resonance falls to silence

And I fade to gray
