Shades of gray beneath my door

Shapes of things I've seen before

They flicker briefly in the light

Then fade into the dark of night

My shadow lingers on for longer

It's had the chances to grow stronger

Stronger than it might have been

Had I been outside my prison

I close my eyes but sleep won't come

Complacency has left me numb

I'm wasting time but I don't know

Of any other path to go

Finally I drift away

And wake to face another day

But the only light that comes my way

Is beneath my door where shadows play.

But something here is not the same

A distant voice has called my name

And in the glimmer of the sun

Where shadows play, there's only one

Outside the door I hear a knock

But nothing's there to move the lock

So in my empty cell I stay

No key would fit it, anyway

The walls are shaken suddenly

My prison falls in front of me

And when the dust has blown away

There is no night, no shades of gray

Now I see you standing there

Of majesty I'm now aware

I'm blinded by your aura bright

But now I have no place to hide

You search my distant heart and find

A part of me I've hid inside

The moment that I hear your voice

I come to you, I have no choice

The brilliant Earth immerses me

I'm free from my mortality

I see the light from radiant skies

The scales have fallen from my eyes
