To hide who I am,

I wear a mask.

The mask is made of many things and colors.

Things that will protect me and colors to hide my true colors.

When you look at me,

you don't really see me.

You see what the mask allows.

If you are my true friend,

can I be me, can I take off my mask, can I let the real me shine through?

There is only one way to find out.

I must remove my mask.

But before I do, i must ask...

please don't laugh and please don't point.

Please accept me for who I am, no more, no less.

If you are my friend, these things you won't do.

Instead you will embrace me and say you love me.

So here goes....

I feel naked and scared...

You hug me and say everything will be ok...

That you will always be by my side....

I'm sorry, but I must ask of you one more thing...

Since you love me, let me keep my mask...

Let me keep it to shield me from the people who won't understand.

For they don't know who i truely am.
