Water glides over fins,
thoughtless eyes unseeing,
crash into invisible walls,
bounce back, unfeeling.
Water gurgles from the filter,
you dance on the bubbles of air,
indulged in simple pleasures,
of everything else, you are unaware.
You are the captive fish,
doomed to die in the bowl,
lost in a swirl of blue water,
goes your body and soul.
Seldom are you loved,
the way the cat or dog is,
"It's just a stupid fish,"
says the Mr. or the Mrs.
Just a mere amusement,
meant to entertain,
your life is almost empty,
and very, very mundane.
I'm sorry, poor fish,
that you coudln't really live,
confined in that cage of glass,
for me, please forgive.
And now you're gone,
belly-up, stiff in the net,
R.I.P. dear Gandalf,
you, I will never forget.
