I stand here with the shadows that are strangers to this place;

I'll be replaced; I'll be replaced?

I can't accept that someone else will put the smile on your face

That so close, before, only I could bring;

Yesterday is near but far away and gone,

Such a tragic thing

That you should once be here but wishing to fly on

With a torn and folded paper wing;

Onward, outward, upward, far up to the sky

Leaving me to wonder here as others

Yearn to soar but only learn to die;

Oh, such a tragic thing-

Standing with the shadows watching hopes that crash, that fall

Watching dreams that never dared to take the chance,

Proving death can be a mercy when one does not live at all;

Peace in listening to liars read of faith in circumstance

Can give the grave impression, always bitter-strong,

That I'd love for you to make of me a liar

To prove me deadly wrong;

To wrap me in the dream that I've been denying all along

And hold me fast, and love me strong;

But since that's too much to ask of any angel ever met,

I'll only ask that you keep me as of yet;

You told me you're not worth it

And I believe, to a degree;

I would tell you I'm not worth it,

But you know that already, don't you?
