A tattered notebook and coffee cake
Lay forgotten on the deck
Summer's warm light has beckoned
This poet to seek broader horizons
Pen in hand she roams the world
Seeing most things anew
Forever remembering her flowing roots
Steeped in sandy ink
Backpacking to self-discovery
She finds herself again
No longer lost in the shadows
She emerges confident
For her talent far surpasses
Any you're like to see
But still she's fighting shyness
And guards herself protectively
She has been broken before
And she's allways gathering pieces
To never be complete is her mission
And so she rarely ceases
