Gilded candy in your eyes,
How you tortured me with honey skin;
Sweet temptation swathed in crimson.
But you burned in my mouth
Liquid gold between my lips.
Clothed in moonlight, you lay in my arms,
Innocence coating your nectar-sweet sleep.
I’d thought you’d burnt me out,
But my heart still burns,
Cardinal, like your body against my own.
I tried to tell you last night,
But you stopped me,
Your sugary fingertips across my lips,
Closing in the red-hot ardor trying to spill out
Across that burning honey skin
My own hands have come to know so well…

I almost wish there was someone real to thank for this poem... but it was actually inspired by some chick flick movie I was watching. I don't remember which one.

Mina
