dams have burst

she cannot make anything

stop

feelings come pouring out

coloring unbidden

crimson splashes on her cheeks

she claims happiness

as her reigning emotion

but it is sorrow that will

steal the spotlight

she says it is all over

her routine is no good

alarm clock a crock

calendar a useless rag

concrete paths are dissolving

as the lights extinguish

no sound to muddy the darkness

but intermittent sniffs

steps are not the problem

it is where to put her feet

that terrifies
