Guilt

As the sun set, and the world went bed

A little girl lay awake, dressed in red.

She stared at the ceiling, lost in thought

And thought of what all her lies had brought.

Her eyes became misty as she realized what she's done.

Everything she said was just for fun.

She didn't mean to hurt anyone, not a single soul.

But now, in her heart, was a vast, empty hole.

She couldn't get rid of the guilt inside.

She just wanted to go run and hide.

She knew they were mad at her for what she said.

Her heart was torn and as she lay there, her heart bled.

She curled into a ball and closed her eyes

And shivered, letting out small, soft cries.

She wished she could take it all back.

As her vision faded and everything turned black.
