The Seven Deadly Sins
(..Envy..)
Her feet walk on the tree's ivy,
Poisonous to some.. seductive to others,
Cloaked in bright green attire,
She cares for no-one.. but herself.
Her eyes are cold and ruthless,
And her gaze narrows as she sees,
A beautiful girl bathing
In the shallow river by the sand- bed.
She caresses the scales
Of the green python encircled
around her neck and aloud she asks,
Who dares to enter my realms?
The young fair maiden bathing in the brook,
Quivers upon hearing the raspy voice,
And all it took is one look,
To fear the towering goddess's reptilian toy.
Forgive me, my lady,
she sobs, I, Rosa, didn't mean to trespass,
And then looks up to find the green divinity,
Walking up to her through the wet moss.
The green goddess slid a hand,
Along the girl's cheeks,
Though in her conspiring mind,
She couldn't comprehend out the girl's identity.
Who was she? A mortal? A spirit?
But never in her life had her eyes
Seen a human girl as pretty as the one,
who stood shaking before her.
The goddess thrived for that beauty,
She wanted it, she craved for it, she envied it.
The innocence was too much of a price,
To forsake when it's come as a prey.
Rosa.. her bitter voice calls..
Child, tell me, why are you so gifted,
her voice orders, Tell me why.
Rosa, blinks at her and is caught
off guard when the goddess's hand
encircles her neck so swift and soft,
And raises her off the land.
There she remained hanging,
Gasping for air and life,
And her weak eyes were begging,
Not knowing her foolish mistake .
The leaves rustled as they watched,
The girl whither into the ground,
So young and innocent but now dead,
Mercy be less, the trees mocked.
The goddess smiled at her handwork,
Pleased with her work, she caresses
the reptile hissing around her neck.
The snake lifts its head and asks,
'Why did you kill her?'
But the goddess smiles and smoothens,
The creases of her green attire.
'I had no choice, my pet,
For I am Envy.'
