Embracing Death

So cold, so dark,
This thing is nothing but an empty void.
I want to escape,
I want to fall and never rise again.

So much screaming, so many tears,
A heart that beats for no one.
Eyes can see the exit door,
Hands reaching for the exit door.

So many people, so many voices,
Calling to me, asking for help.
They never heard me when I cried for them,
The never looked at me.

The cold is seeping into me,
Sucking away the warmth of what I was.
This is a shell,
One that I wish to shed.

No longer human, no longer me,
Their words have torn out my heart,
Their actions and shattered it to pieces.
This is the only comfort I find.

Slowly the cold and darkness leave me,
Slowly the ground comes towards me.
My arms open wide,
Ready to accept my fate.

Embracing death,
Finally, I can smile again.
