Who am I?
You wish you knew
You think I’m here
To be abused
You hear me cry
But you don’t care
You ask: who are you?
Don’t you dare

You know better
Than I ever could
I’ve only become
What you said I should
You say I’m yours
I don’t think you know
I’d fly away
Had I somewhere to go

You clipped my wings
Locked me up
Mistook my hate
For hidden love
Misheard my cries
My voice too small
But I don’t love you
Not at all

What am I?
I wish I knew
I’m only here
To be abused
I’m your best friend
I lift you up
You bring me down
I’ve had enough

But I’m too weak
My voice is gone
From silent screams
Kept silent too long
Your prisoner
I’m all you need
Your greatest joy
To watch me bleed

I once loved you
Once, I knew love
Once I thought
You were sent from above
Why do you hate me?
Why don’t you care?
You ask: who am I?
You’re my despair
