Kept awake each night

by caffeine and memories

And the arrhythmic spitting

of rain on the roof

My mind is jogging

through tunnels and canyons

Turning corners, turning wheels

Turning into something frightening

Each word that is spoken

means more work, more ink

Feelings are shocked shocked up

and lit aflame

kept awake each night

by caffeine and memories

Scarred bones and flesh

in disguise as tears
