Chains rattle in the wind

Swaying with the soft, whispers of roses

Dyed crimson, burning in the limelight I once knew

The trees echo a melancholy melody

Of delicate kisses never again to be spoken

The hushed night awakens on the hill

And here, still, I remain

The witness to the chill of love’s winter

Where frost enwraps the concrete

Hollowed out to form a name

I am the same

From the dawning of life

To the dusk of my days

I remained in your mind

The friend to help you stand,

And to lend a helping hand

I was true,

Always for you,

And that’s why you never knew

What I must do, to escape this world

You knew the hurt he’d done

And how he swore he was the one

And here’s the dawning of the sun

And with the sound of the gun

You knew he’d won

I’m so sorry

You know I would never make you cry

But now it’s time to say goodbye
