Rock Island

Heat radiates off of glistening bodies

Sweat reflecting the rainbow lights back into the artificial fog

And I join in their animalistic ritual

Of flaunting and lusting

Of singing and moving

Because I am an animal,

A jealous wannabe alpha female

Who wants the alpha male's eye on me, only me

So I dance. I dance on the floor,

The stage, in the cage.

And I feel his hands exploring my legs

My waist and back, such strong hands on me

Hands that burn like my body temperature,

Making my soul sweat and evaporate away

(God, how it hurts).

And everyone's eyes are on the true alpha girl

Because she's shaking her tail like I never could.

But it's a little easier

Because it's just a dance, he's just

Putting on a show.

It's easier because I know I'm invisible.

He's just dancing, and in his mind

He's touching her.

Because I'm invisible

And though I see his hand on my thigh, I know

That all he sees is her.
