Final Word on Titanic

confusedpoet: I'm afraid what you are saying doesn't agree with what is actually going on.

The Titanic is disappearing. Bacteria on her hull are eating away at her; 200 thousand pounds of iron a day. Some people don't understand the changes that Titanic caused on luxury liner regulations.

At that time, a vessel of 10 000 tons or more had too have a minium of 16 lifeboats. Titanic carried 20; enough for only one third of the people on board.

Luckily, on her maiden voyage, Titanic was only two thirds full. If she was carrying maxium alottment of people, the death toll would have been much worse.

After Titanic sank, the regulations were changed. Ships had to carry enough lifeboats for everyone on board. The International Ice Patrol (something like that) was also started. Titanic started revelations in regulations to guarentee the safety of passengers and crew.

Submarines DO have an impact on Titanic. When they land on her deck, they scrape off parts of the deck, exposing fresh deck to bacteria, speeding along her 'decomposition'.

People need to stop the destruction. Human beings see everything as something that they can conquer. Humans believe they are superior in every way. Titanic was claimed to be unsinkable. She sank.

We must protect Titanic. She is the final resting place of 1500 souls that died abroad her. Titanic is the tradegy that stopped others. Titanic's sister ship, Britanic, sank in World War I. The only people who died were sucked into the boats still moving propellers.

People on broad Britanic owed their lives to the Titanic disaster.

The Titanic isn't an artifact. It's a tomb. We have too show it some respect. For those who died on it, those who died building her, and those whose dreams sank with her.

Titanic has come alive in the minds of many people. 1517 died on Titanic, not nessacarily on that fateful night, but building her as well.

Those who show her disrespect, show those who died a disrespect also.

Titanic took the lives of some great heroes. You who believe Titanic should remain in the past, are wrong.

Titanic will always be fresh in our minds. Especially in the minds of those who lost their lives' families.

'The 1500 souls lost here still speak. Reminding us that the unthinkable can happen.'

If there is a lesson to be learned from Titanic it's that. You have to remember that no matter how safe something is, the unthinkable CAN happen. Show those souls some respect.

Respect for them, and for the ship that is their final resting place...
