Kneel before the green alter of time

And, at its base, lay double hands of air

For Chronos, who weaves all the world away

Lacks nothing but the sanctity of prayer.

OOOOO

And bow before the silent spring of dreams

And toss the cherry blossoms in the flaw

And watch them as they swirl beyond our sight

For none of us can say what hopes will go.

OOOOOO

And stand before the pale specter of Death

And, at his feet, lay a brass-sprinkled blade

For kings and tyrants, wanderers and fools

Fall. And, from falling, go forth unafraid.

OOOOOO

And these remain, while sand runs on apace

And sleeps, but for the twilight of their eyes

To rise for none. Together, stand alone

And walk a path beneath the inert skies.
