Telperion Pie
Sung and Written by Lia Saluvril Naïlo
A long, long time ago...
It's written in the book now,
How the one called Dragon lost his war...
Saluvril and Améran
Made sure he wouldn't be back again
So the elves would be much safer than before...
But thinking on it, I still shiver,
Randir strapping on her quiver,
Trolls burst through the town gates,
Four elves - together by fate -
We met Dart, rescued Annadan,
But we knew it was no mortal man
Who came up with this evil plan...
The Dragon's back again!
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
Did you know -must've been by fate -
That what was once most bitter hate
Would evolve to something no one knew?
That no one ever could forsee
The noble and mercenary could
Ever make the impossible come true?
Rand knew I was in love with him,
She saw me smile when things were grim,
E'en though he was part Drow,
I couldn't hate him now!
I was a lonely, green-eyed lady fair,
With noble blood and auburn hair,
But a spark was still united there,
When theDragon was back again.
Rand remembered:
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
For many days, Danny was alone,
In a prison made of stone,
Dreaming of when he could be free.
But Matthias, that slave had a plan,
To free himself and Annadan,
And kill the drunken, evil ogre king.
And when the King sat down to dine,
The smith poured poison in his wine,
The court was anarchy,
Annadan was almost free!
But the elves got out to find,
Matthias, they had left behind.
The hero stayed within their minds
But the Dragon was back again!
Annadan remembered:
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of us would turn the tide...
The four of us would turn the tide...
All amok and helter-skelter,
We four companions looked for shelter,
Tired and cold and fading fast.
But when we treaded in their wood,
The Faeries saw us, and we could
Not have the strength to run so fast.
Now the winter air was no perfume,
As the faes played a hollow tune,
We tried to hide - alas,
We never got the chance,
As the Faeries advanced, we had to yield,
As they took all weapons, swords and shields,
No mercy would those faes reveal,
Cause the Dragon's back again!
Dart remembered:
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
And there we were, all on our quest,
And none of us were at our best,
No hope of starting o'er again,
But the old fae ran up to us quick,
He said the ambush was a trick,
Cause they were not our foes, but our friends...
But as we sat before the fire,
Dart's blue eyes flashed with rage and ire,
No demon of blackest hell
Could cast that magic spell!
And as the flames rose high into the night,
The book glowed with unearthly light,
As the fae explained that they would fight -
The Dragon's back again!
I remember:
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
When Ariella's granddad told the news,
I asked if we were going to lose,
But he just frowned and tuned away...
But over at the tent's wide door,
Where the music came from hours before,
The girl who had her pipes out wouldn't play...
In Telperion, Tymko had screamed -
Gareth had sighed and Sammia dreamed -
But not a word was spoken -
The bard's mandolin was broken -
And the father I've always known -
Kethrenir - waits all alone,
While Dalia schemes for the throne -
Cause the Dragon's back again...
We remembered:
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
Oh, why, why must we do this, I cried,
We're no match for a black mage,
This quest is suicide!
The fae said, The Oracle prophesied
that the four of you would turn the tide...
The four of you would turn the tide...
