Masks

She walks down the hall
Head foreword, back straight, daring the world to look at her
Her aura screams
Confidence
Intelligence
Predator

But she looks in your eyes and you know
Scared. Worried. Weak. Broken
The eyes are the window to the soul
Silent words whisper in your ear
The friends are changing
The parents fighting
Loosing hope
All her fault

She closes the shutters and lowers her head
Shame. Regret. Pain
Walks on
Turns back
Meets your gaze

A black candle burns in the window
Cold flame
A symbol of the desolate soul hidden behind the lies
A sparkling tear
Turns again
All is not well in perfect
Behind the mask of betrayal
