Piano: Behind the Keys

To become a skilled pianist, a person must contain a certain god-given talent, express your feelings well, and have a goal or dream which will consequently allow you to become a better pianist.

To explain to a person that has never touched the keys of a piano the basics of playing which allows them to become the greatest concert master in the world is like explaining a baby bird how to fly. However, if the baby bird and the person both practice at their tasks, then they will both be able to have a chance at succeeding their goals. How does a person become great at what he is doing? Most likely, there are various answers to this question in every living person. Although this page is limited, there will be a few ideas placed on this sheet.

A good purpose or goal, determination, hours of practice, starting young, etc. are needed to become a great pianist. Nevertheless, what is the need of these words? Some people are just born with fingers that make beautiful music and need no practice. But, if there is determination and a goal set in their minds, that person would want to become better than their current state, and to do this, a person must practice.

Unfortunately, the world of music may not turn to one’s favor. No matter how much a person wants their goal, sometimes not having talent is the obstacle for his or her goal. It is true that you can not obtain talent, but perhaps you can earn it. If a person tries their best, they just may have a chance to becoming a great pianist. Maybe more practice can outrun the person who has more talent?

Perhaps the most nerve-wracking part of piano is no matter how great a person is he or she can break down in front of an audience. Some of the greatest pianists today are unable to play in public although plays the greatest masterpieces from Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mendelssohn, etc. The most outrageous ways to conquer stage fright are perhaps the funniest such as thinking everyone is undressed. The best thing is to remember your hard work and express it the best way you can without any mistakes. Quite funny how ten minutes or less could change a person’s emotions from happy to sad.

Is there such a thing as a perfect pianist? I don’t believe in such a thing, but maybe others do. Everyone has made a mistake in their lives whether it is from piano or any other environment. To conquer these mistakes would need practice, a dream, and talent. No matter how badly one has done when performing or practicing, these mistakes shall benefit you hopefully for the rest of your life.
