I Won’t Fall

It’s been

So long now

Since I fell asleep

With your scent upon my pillow.

Breathing,

Breathe deep,

And let out a longing sigh

I hadn’t thought of you and I,

But now that you’re here again,

Lying in my arms again;

I had almost forgotten

What it was like

To have your hand clasping mine,

How your eyes sparkle and shine,

I’d missed your hair upon my skin;

Soft and silken, and within

I felt such I longing I’ve

Not felt for you

For so long.

-

I loved you.

-

It’s been

So long now

Since tears streaked my skin

Because of you, sweet lover.

Crying,

Cry silent,

As my love for you

Was, so very long ago,

But now I love someone new,

I don’t want to think of you,

But now I’ve been in your arms,

Once more helpless to your charms;

I hadn’t listened quite so well

To your voice

As you talked of what you thought,

With your truth and smile you caught

Me in your tangled web again;

Soft and silken, once again

I felt such a longing for

Your love and mine

For you.

-

But no more.

-

It’s been

So long now

No more, not again,

Not you, not this time.

I will not,

Not never,

You are now my past,

So why do I think of you?

I will not fall in love again,

I won’t fall for you again,

I never even knew your kiss

Your sweet taste or your soft lips,

Though there have been times I could:

If only I had.

I do now swear and I refuse;

To you my heart I will not loose,

And I don’t think I ever will,

Not for a long time, until

We have both let go the pain,

But not right now,

I won’t

Fall.
