Notes: Wrote this over the Easter holidays while flat on my back with a chest infection. It's one of those songs/poems that simply went straight from the ether onto paper without engaging my mind first. I've had feedback on this from a group of fellow writers and they seemed to like it. One even mentioned that with aguitar (acoustic, perhaps), this could be a song. If anyone reading this can play a guitar, try doing so and reading/singing this out loud, and then leave a review - I'd love to know if it'd work to music.
As a writer, not simply a teenager venting his emotions to the world like so many others on this site, I strive to better myself and my writing, so please leave ANY comments you have on this - I long for constructive criticism, even smallthings likecorrectingtypos I've made…
Review today and help to make an author happier…
This Ol' World
I used to think we'd be happy
Someone to cry with
Someone to laugh with
I used to think of peace
Someone to love us
Someone to save us
But now,right now…
Now I ain't so sure
This ol' world keeps spinning on
And these eyes, they keep on seeing
Destruction
Confusion
Illusion
This ol' world keeps spinning on
And these ears, they keep on hearing
Weeping
Crying
Dying
But I couldn't see happiness, there was
No one to cry with
No one to laugh with
But I could't see peace, there was
No one to love me
No one to save me
But now,right now…
Now I need to believe, 'cause
There's been a change, oh yeah, there's been a change
For once in my life,
I'm not alone
For the first time,
I'm not alone
At last,
I'm not alone
'Cause you
You found me
You, oh you
You opened my heart
And now, right now…
Now I can live
This ol' world keeps spinning on
And these eyes, they start to see
Relief
Belief
Peace
This ol' world keeps spinning on
And these ears, they start to hear
Elevation
Jubilation
A soul nation
Please tell me it ain't a dream…
