Crimson Rain
Thalia stared at me, waiting for me to make my move. Question lay in her eyes if I would do it or not. I was so hungry, and I was wounded from Stephan’s attack with the cross bands. I climbed onto the bed next to her, and she followed me with her green eyes. I ran my pale fingers across her neck, and she shivered.
“Your hands are so cold,” she whispered as I climbed over her. The perfect angle for feeding. Her neck was still offered to me, and I brought my lips down. Kisses came from it before I knew it. I couldn’t help myself. I felt her move under me, her hands closed over a part of the sheets.
“I’m dead, and I haven’t eaten. It’s to be expected.” I muttered into her hair that had rested against her ear.
“Just go on with it already.” I smiled. Even though she was offering me her blood, her feelings about me didn’t change. She still loathed me, but probably not to the dramatic extent of before.
My tongue slid across her neck, searching for the tingle of warmth from her veins. Her heartbeat began to resound in my ears, and I knew I had found it. I put my mouth over the wetness, and slowly sank my canines into her flesh. Thalia gasped, her pulse quickening its beat, and every sound I heard in my head. I knew deep down inside she wanted to latch her arms around my neck, and pull me closer. But I also knew that she didn’t want give me the satisfaction of attraction either. Blood trickled into my mouth as I sucked, tongue moving over the wound, licking every drop. A moan escaped from Thalia’s lips before I was shoved away.
She was sitting straight up, staring at the opposite wall so I couldn’t see her face. Her ears were a bright red, and a red mark was beginning to show on her neck. Her back was moving up and down really fast, and I knew why she had pushed me away.
It is not anything new to me to know that mortals go into a state of ecstasy when being bitten, and this followed the same with Thalia. She was embarrassed that she had become aroused from my bite, and that I had made her felt that way. I turned my head, and looked at my arms. The burn wound was healing up, good thing those crosses hadn’t been blessed, or I would have scarred. I flipped over to my side to look at Thalia’s back though the sheen of her nightgown. God knows that I wanted her. I wanted her so bad it hurt. I wanted to grab her and throw her on the bed and have my way with her.
“Are you going to bed now Thalia?” I asked, calmness washing over my voice. I didn’t want her to know that I knew she would enjoy the bite or that I was rejoicing inside from the moan she had given me.
“I’m afraid. Is that wrong? I know I shouldn’t be but-“ Her voice trailed off as she turned her head to look at me. “I would feel more comfortable if you would let me stay in here with you. Don’t take it personal or anything, but I really don’t want to run the risk of being taken advantage of. I know you wouldn’t do something like that because you know what I would do to you if you did.”
I smiled. “Yes I know, you’d rather run the chances of being with someone who holds respect for you instead of someone who doesn’t. Correct?” She nodded in agreement, and I chuckled to myself. “You may stay in here if you like. You may sleep in my bed as well. I promise I will not take advantage of you in anyway, you have my word.” I could feel dawn approaching, and I used my power to shut the door, and to have the canopies fall down around the bed. Thalia slid her feet back under the covers, and they touched my feet. She gasped. I hated being reminded that I was cold 24/7. She rested her head on a pillow, her black hair furling out from under her head and resting over the crimson satin pillowcases.
My lids slowly became heavy, and I yawned before I drifted into slumber.
His hands were cold and smooth as they made their way up her stomach and lingering over her breasts. She gasped as he brought his face down in between her bosom, gathering all her warmth to his cold face. “Silenious…” she moaned clutching a hand full of his hair between her fingers…
Thalia jerked her hands away, her face hot with embarrassment. She hated it when her sight brought her images of herself, it made her aware of things to come that she didn’t’ want to know about. Would she ever let Silenious have his way with her? Maybe, but he would have to work really hard. She pressed herself against his sleeping body, placing her hand on his bare chest. She shared the pillow his head rested on as she slowly succumbed to slumber beside him.
“Thalia has left to her home now. She figured it would be safe enough. I called a cab for her, she just called a few minutes ago and told me that she made it home okay.”
“Dammit Basques, why did you let her go?” I pushed him off of me as I threw on my robe over my blood stained chest. His amber eyes stared into my blue ones.
“I received no orders to keep her here.”
“Damn it all to hell!” I stomped to the door of my room and flung it open to see Thalia’s green stare looking up at me. Her black hair was gorgeous as it tumbled down her back, and around her shoulders, making a perfect contrast of the long sleeved red button up shirt she wore. She chose regular blue jeans with her top and she had taken off all of her makeup revealing her true beauty. She was simply stunningly beautiful.
“Good evening Silenious. Why are you so angry? I saw Basques come in here, and I thought maybe he knew you were awake. I was just about to wake you because dinner is done. Since you’re up, why don’t you get a bath and wash all that dried blood off of you. I’ll be out here.” She walked back off into the living room, and towards the kitchen. I turned to look at Basques.
“You little bastard. You knew that she was here.”
“Yes, she interrupted my fun. I was going to tell you that she went home to get clothes so she could live with us. She feels safe here-with you. Mrow.” Basques cuddled his face against my neck before scampering out of the room.
I really hated him sometimes.
So Thalia was going to live with us now. I hope that my sleep schedule did not make her feel like she had to change hers accordingly. The phone beside my bed rang and I answered it.
“Hello?”
“Hello Bats. It’s Mirah. How is little Thalia doing? I hear she’s living with you now.”
“For the time being, yes. She is. What do you need Mirah?”
“Basques informed me she was attacked last night, by mercenaries. I did a little prying, and I found out that the ones that attacked her were wanted by the Nether police. They seemed to have caused some trouble for a family of beings. They were for someone named Prometheus Gable. He wants Thalia captured because she ruins a lot of prime opportunities for him. He either wants her dead, or in his care where she cannot be used to his disadvantage.”
“Where do you always get your information Mirah? Are you some sort of Japanese spy?”
“That’s for me to know, and for you to hope you never find out. Ta-Ta, and enjoy your time with your sweet little Thalia.”
“Mirah I owe you, I’ll send one of my buddies over if you like.” There was a pause before I realized I had said the wrong thing. There was silence on the other end of the phone before a string of curses were shouted at me, and she hung up. I slapped my face. I always forgot that Mirah liked me. I hung up the receiver and hurried myself to get a hot shower.
When I came out, lobster and salmon were on the table, and Thalia was having a delightful conversation with Basques over the candlelight dinner. She stood once she saw my face, and it glowed with life.
“Ah, Silenious! Are you hungry? I made lobster and salmon for Basques since you were asleep, I hope you’re not mad.”
“Not at all. I’m glad that I didn’t have to cook.” It became silent once again as she took her seat and stared at the food on her plate. I was silent as I took my chair, and there was a glass with red wine in it. Basques’ gaze went from me to Thalia, and he smiled. A beeping noise went off and Thalia practically jumped out of her seat. She fumbled with her jeans, and removed a purple pager.
“Um, that’s my work. I guess they want me at the murder scene. I heard that there were some murders going on.” She stood, and became saddened.
“I will go with you. I would feel safer knowing I was there with you.” She waved her hand at me.
“It’s no big deal, I do it all the time. I’m a cop Silenious. Most of the time I don’t even have to look at the bodies, I just have to touch an object and tell them what happened so they can find the killer.” She was grabbing her coat when I made my way to her, so close that Basques could not hear what I said.
“Allow me to go with you, please. I do not want to repeat the events of last night, Thalia.” I gathered her hands in mine, concern most likely showing in my eyes. A strand of hair had been removed from her ponytail and lay on her cheek. I moved it away, and pressed my lips to her cheek. She moved away, opening the door.
“Okay, but you’re driving.” She tossed me my trench coat and I followed her out of the house and to the car. I looked to Basques, and he just smiled, like he had planned the whole thing.
“This is Silenious. He’s my partner, he’ll be investigating with me today.” The officer nodded and Thalia wrapped her hand around mine, leading me into the house. There was a flight of stairs, and little droplets of blood were on each step. I watched her put gloves over her hand before she touched the banister and began climbing the stairs. I inhaled. The coppery scent of blood mingled in the air, and I could smell feces. There was a dead body.
“Hey you! What are you doing in here?” An officer spotted me on the steps, and his hand hovered above his gun. I smiled, looking upwards towards the ceiling.
“Just investigating. I mean you no harm. I am here with Thalia.” The officer nodded and went on his way. I followed her up the stairs. She was crouched in front of the body. A pool of blood lay around her feet, yet she continued to stare into the dead corpse’s eyes. I put my arm over my nose. My strength of smell was stronger than an ordinary human’s, and the stench in the room was almost unbearable. Yet Thalia continued to stare at the body, unaffected by his stench or the goriness of his body.
Suddenly, strings of white and blue sprouted from her body. They flapped and swirled, beating the air. I stepped back in surprise, never witnessing anything like this before. I could feel holy magic, and I crouched down. I was actually afraid, actually had fear in my soul from whatever she was doing. I saw a string of tears slide down her cheeks, and realized that the gloves that she had put on were now gone from her hands. Her hand jerked away, and the glowing lights disappeared. She stood to her feet, and wiped the tears from her eyes. Looking at me, she tried to smile.
“They died in a lot of pain, protecting the one they loved.” She moved away from the corpse and near the closet. Opening the closet door, there was a sleeping child in a car seat. She gathered the baby in her arms, and began to weep.
This is when I truly remembered what humanity felt like when I had been living. The police came in, and identified the baby as the body’s son. The child had lost his father. Come to find out that the mother had been lost in childbirth, and there were no other living relatives. The child was alone. Destined to live his life alone. We made our way back into the car, and Thalia fell into my arms, crying like she had never cried before. Crying for the loss of blood, the loss of life. Crying tears of regret over the crimson rain that had leaked from the child’s father’s eyes, knowing he wouldn’t be alive to see his son grow into a man.
“Silenious…The person that did this must be stopped. He must be killed, be put away.” She said into my chest between her sobs. I stroked her head, and comforted her. I knew I couldn’t tell her that someone wanted her captured, dead or alive, I couldn’t worry her. We got in the car, and headed back to my place. The whole time I kept her in my arms, afraid if I let her go then she would disappear.
“I want to protect you Thalia. Let me place the second mark on you. That way we’ll have a connection through our minds so I can always know where you are.”
“You just want to kiss me. There’s no way you could possibly be concerned about my safety for real.”
“I am Thalia. Whether you choose to believe it or not, I truly am. I worry about you.” I breathed into her hair, taking the scent into my nose. She tilted her head back into my hand, lips parted as she stared at me with her sparkling emerald eyes. Her ebony locks spilled around my hands. Her breath was hot against my face, and I was suddenly aroused.
“I do not wish to be a burden upon you Silenious. I know you lust after me, but I don’t want you feeling the need to protect me 24/7.”
“Thalia…”I muttered. I could feel her pulse through my hand that rested on her side. I slipped it underneath her shirt, stroking her rib. She shut her eyes. She wanted me just as bad as I wanted her.
“Do as you wish. If you want to protect me, then place the second mark on me Silenious. I cannot stop you.” I could tell in her voice that she wanted me to protect her, that she was afraid to live in fear of murder in death all her waking moments. She lay down on the limo floor, and I climbed over her on all fours. I lowered my head to the high collar of her red shirt, and unfastened the first three buttons. Thalia could not seem to keep her eyes off of me, but she didn’t protest. Placing my lips to the skin of her collarbone, I planted kisses moving my way up to her neck. Her scent was intoxicating, and I wanted to take in every bit of her. Her knee rose up against my side.
“No games Silenious. Just do it or get off of me.” Though she said it to be mean, it did nothing but arouse me more. The tone of voice she used, the expression on her face, I couldn’t help myself. If I didn’t mark her, I would loose myself in the moment. I placed my lips hard over hers, slipping my tongue inside her mouth. She made a noise, probably from the shock of my sudden action, and shut her eyes. I felt her hand weave the fingers into my hair, pulling my face closer to hers. I gathered up all my power, and I transported some into her. I couldn’t get enough of the taste of her, remembering every sweet moment of something I had been longing to do for such a long time. A purr arose from her throat as I pulled away. She was lying, breasts rising and falling with her breath. Sparks of my power flew from her, as she tried to catch her breath.
“It is done.” I said, my breathing already returning. She just lay there with her eyes shut, her beautiful lips red from my hungry mouth. “You are in my protection, Thalia.”
