Do Not Go Quietly Into the Night
Written by Kay
Do not go quietly into the night
nor dream quiet nights in darkest light
as night marks the raven’s final flight
in the valley’s moon-less night.
Do not go smiling into the sea
for smiling your glee you see how sirens be
in coral coves smiling to see
smiling sailors forget in their ships to flee.
Do not fly into the twilight sky
though twilight wings fly from the cry
of the earth-bound lie and yet we cry
to fly with dusky wings under the twilight sky.
Do not ever in shadows lament and call
for ever do I in my sorrow stall
to call as we in shadows fall
into the endless waltz of sorrow’s ball.
So do not ever leave but stay here with me
for even night’s drifting leaves sing my plea
while you drift with wind, wave, and sea
but please spread free your twilight wings to flee
your dreams and in shadow come quietly home to me.
finis.
