GENRE

V.

How You Remind Me”

So how was school today?”

Day in and day out, that was all that he would ask when they both came home. The red-head never answered, but the girl with long dark hair always answered back, and she would do with such a large smile that it made the red-head think that she hadn’t really gone to school at all.

Maydrin knew what her school day was really like, and it was always terrible, she would get bullied, she would get made fun of, and she would always be hurt, even by her teacher. The only one that protected her was Maydrin, and even then it was very hard for him because of the different class of GENRE the two were sorted in.

It made Maydrin upset.

Upset about Ryoko and how she easily took the pain and would just tell Kamui the new things she learned, the beautiful things she had managed to do, and the daydream of her knight in shiny armor, showing up again someday, and someday soon. Ryoko’s knight…Sanosuke…

But Kamui still wouldn’t change his question even if Ryoko was the only one talking, Maydrin could tell…the question was always directed at him.

But Maydrin would never answer.

Which he regretted after the incident, because after that, Kamui barely ever asked “How was your school today?”

But that’s really getting ahead of ourselves.

It was really a normal enough day, the sun was shining out bright, the cherry blossoms around the Orphanage were blowing all around, there were silent sounds of singing from the muttered church within the Orphanage, the quiet sizzling in the air with the great smell of pancakes, as well as the pounding screams in the air of one angry Ryoko from being late in waking up.

Yes, everything was a normal enough part of the day.

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin'
Tired of livin' like a blind man
I'm sick inside without a sense of feelin

Of course Maydrin didn’t know why something felt different until so much later. They had gone to school and it ended, but they walked up.

“This show has been interrupted to broadcast an important announcement, since the year 2450; we have come to warn the Aero City of the case of the rapers. Since the year 2450, we have not have this kind of case since the police has more technology to discover whoever does this sin that anyone has been afraid to do it, since the penalty is death, but we have had a recent many cases of rape, but no one ends up living after the deadly deed is done and no one can identify any of the rapers. If you are out today or tonight, please stay in your houses, these rapers are rumored to be very dangerous, also please be warned that they go after young-boys who have reached the ‘bishie’ status in their school, and as well as Romance GENRE type, be warned and be careful, that is all.”

Fear ran deeply in Kamui’s blood, he knew Maydrin had reached his reclaimed ‘bishie’ status like before (In an actual home, when Maydrin had a family and went to everyday normal school), and Ryoko’s GENRE WAS Romance…those two were in more than likely going to be in trouble!

“Where are you going Kamui?” Kamui looked back to a curious Kitsune, who had no clue about the announcement just on the television.

“I’m going to meet Ryoko and Maydrin half-way.”

But no he had never managed to do so.

And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

The two had managed to reach home and Maydrin was the first to notice out of the two,

“…Where’s Kamui?” A very shocked Kitsune looked at Maydrin, as she stopped playing a small Duel Monsters game with Nyuki, who also looked just as shocked,

“…He isn’t with you…?” Nyuki asked, her eyes paling just a bit.

“What do you mean?”

“He went to get you two.”

“Why would he do that?” Ryoko asked, blinking innocently, as she sat down next to Kitsune who had decided to rise up in fear.

“He wanted to help protect you two.”

“From what?” Maydrin scoffed, knowing very well that if they needed any protection, he could wipe away the enemy.

“From rape…” Nyuki cringed and held herself for a second in fear of the word, as though it shook her to the very core for some really odd reason, “He…he isn’t with you?” Nyuki stared up at Maydrin, tears starting to pour from her eyes.

“We never saw him.”

“Oh God.” All three girls spout out, realizing the danger of the situation, shaking to their very utter core,

“Kamui will be fine, it’s not like anyone can hurt him.” Maydrin coldly said, sitting down on a chair, pulling his backpack off of him and loosening the annoying tie that he was forced to wear.

“MAYDRIN!” Maydrin cringed as Ryoko yelled at him, “I don’t care IF Kamui is strong like that, he would never try to hurt someone if he could help it! And you know that Maydrin!” Ryoko growled at Maydrin, angry that the red-head could take such a tone with her helper and fellow orphan. Maydrin scoffed once again, then sighed,

“Do you want all of us to look for him?”

“Yes! Of course I do!”

“Fine then, let’s go.”

It has all started out as a normal enough travel through the parks, streets and little shops all around. They didn’t split up in fear of being kidnapped or anything else, Maydrin wasn’t scared at all, and Kamui was probably just somewhere else, hiding out safely or talking to some other people. They continued to look around, it wasn’t until the sun started to set that Maydrin was started getting worried, “Maybe we should split up.”

“Are you mad? That’s not something we should do! Especially since it’s almost dark!”

“Fine, I’ll look by myself, you three stay together.”

“No wait!” Ryoko cried out for Maydrin, but he covered himself with his powerful dark chi and ran away in a superior speed. “Oh no…” Ryoko stared hopelessly at the crowded corridor of the darkening place Maydrin had run down out of.

“Don’t worry, Maydrin won’t let anyone hurt him. So it’ll be okay…” Nyuki softly said, staring at Ryoko with a soft and kind smile, Ryoko nodded simply, praying silently for Kamui and Maydrin.

It wasn’t until a few hours that Maydrin had found Kamui. And even then, he was lucky he even heard him. Maydrin scowled through the streets, especially the dark and shadier types. Maydrin was running so fast that he was lucky…to hear the ear-piercing screams and cries and he almost didn’t recognize them, but the screams had cried out,

“RYOKO! MAYDRIN! ANYBODY!” Not many people knew the names of the orphans, so it had to be!

Maydrin ran and found himself passing where the screams had directly came from and when he stopped…he was shocked to see the most devastating sight he had ever seen in his life.

Kamui stopped screaming; his eye was wide and blank but elsewhere was not as blank. Blood ran down the walls he had smeared, his hands were binded right in front of him. Maydrin’s eyes traveled down to see that Kamui had lost his voice, as his mouth was still open to try and scream with all of his might.

“Still stuck in an illusion?” Maydrin asked, to no one in particular, knowing that Kamui wouldn’t be able to reply anyhow. Maydrin walked down to Kamui and tears were sprouting from the boy, his dark black hair matted with his own blood and he was breathing harshly through his mouth. When Maydrin had reached his target he stared in even more shock.

Pieces of Kamui’s body were missing.

Vital pieces.

“...Those…sadists…”

Was all that Maydrin could say as he bent down to place his hand on Kamui’s forehead. Maydrin quickly focused and forced a bit of chi through Kamui’s mind. Kamui’s mouth stopped moving to scream and was left blank open; the tears that were pouring stopped but still dripped into Maydrin’s large hand.

“M-…May…Maydrin…?” Kamui asked, staring into the darkness of Maydrin’s palm.

“Hey Kamui.” Was all Maydrin could say as Kamui tackled him, crying into his white shirt, sobbing so loudly in pain, but what surprised Maydrin was what Kamui cried out,

“I’m so glad you’re okay!”

Of course that surprised Maydrin, a lot of things could surprise him if he was used to something. Maydrin was used to hating Nashimi, Kamui was a Nashimi but Kamui did stuff that was not like a Nashimi, he did human like things, he even did what a girl would do in shoujou manga (Maydrin blamed Nyuki for influencing Kamui with Fruits Basket). Maydrin stared down at the body cradling up to him, crying his eyes out, Maydrin started to have tears build up in his eyes as well,

“Shh…it’s okay…shhh….”

“Where’s Ryoko?”

“Nyuki and Kitsune have her…”

“Oh…that’s good…” Kamui smiled sorrow idly and stared up at Maydrin’s face and Maydrin stared back at that face with somewhat shock, how could he be smiling? He…was missing what made him a man…he had cuts and tattoos down all over the holy surface known as his body! How could he be smiling? “I’m sorry Maydrin…I’m so tired…” Maydrin blinked as the boy fell asleep against his knees, sleeping peacefully.

At least for now. Maydrin knew he would have nightmares later…

Maydrin sighed and took off his own shirt, showing very old and past scars and draped it over Kamui’s lower body and stood up, carefully picking Kamui with him in bridal style. Maydrin ran and as he ran he noticed that Kamui stayed calm the entire jumps and bumpy part of the road. Maydrin wondered silently, why this was…but he really couldn’t think of an answer.

“Maydrin! I’m so-OH MY GOD!” Ryoko covered her mouth, her eyes very wide in fear as Kitsune and Nyuki’s own faces were pale.

“Yeah, I found him…” Maydrin softly said, cuddling the younger against him as Kamui whimpered for warmth.

“…Did…did they get him?” Maydrin really wanted to hit Kitsune right then, of course THEY got him! What else could have it been? A burglar? A random neighbor? Aliens out of nowhere!? Maydrin gave Kitsune a glare and she shuddered slightly and stepped behind Nyuki. Nyuki frowned and walked up to Maydrin,

“We’ll take him now; we understand that you wouldn’t want to hold him anymore.”

No! Not so! Maydrin had to keep holding him, poor Kamui! Besides, it would seem unnatural for Nyuki to carry him, especially since he was a boy.

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'

“No, that’s fine. I’ll carry him the rest of the way,” Maydrin quietly said, unconsciously holding Kamui closer to him, which Kamui took all the warmth for. Nyuki nodded and they walked back to the Orphanage.

“Finally where the hell have…you…been…” Asakura stared with wide eyes, her light green skin growing lighter as she stared down at what Maydrin held in his hands.

“Is that…?” Desria asked from down behind Asakura’s legs with wide eyes. Maydrin just passed the two, and passed a blinking Inuki and a confused Noroi to make it to the boys’ room, with one quick motion he managed to place Kamui down calmly without disturbing the boy’s sleep.

“Hey…” Maydrin started, taking a seat backwards, laying his chin upon the ridge, “I’m here to talk to if you really need to talk to someone…because…you know, and I had the same thing done to me…” Maydrin whispered to Kamui, his eyes feeling so dark and red. Maydrin carefully stared at Kamui carefully, sighing as he spelt that small secret that he had refused everyone else of his past. Maydrin stared as Kamui started to rustle around uncomfortably, his balance was off and Maydrin pat his chest, feeling the horrible scar that marred down as an ‘x’ figure. “I am here Kamui…” Maydrin admitted, though he felt very uneasy about it, staring down at the oddly positioned Nashimi. “I am here…”

“Hum…Maydrin…” Kamui muttered through his restless sleep, cuddling against his blanket with a strong grip, his eyes started to winch in some type of fear, “Just please them alone…Promise me…leave them alone…”

Maydrin stared for a long time, his eyes softening and the hand that had held his scar a few seconds ago, now laid upon Kamui’s head, fingering all of Kamui’s dark black hair, all in a very calming emotion.

“I wonder why…why did you want to protect us? And why…why would they want to go after someone like you? Why did they do that to you?”

“Better me than you and Ryoko.” Kamui whispered and Maydrin cast his hand quickly away as though Kamui was on fire. Kamui stared up at Maydrin with a weird smile, as though he could laugh at any given moment. Maydrin glared down at Kamui, flinching just a bit from his stupid smile,

“But why?”

“I love you both.” Maydrin stared carefully at Kamui, growing suspicious of the Nashimi, “I could never bear it if you two had gotten caught rather then me.” Maydrin sighed, leaning once again on the rim of the chair,

“That still doesn’t answer my question.”

“They were Yukies.” Maydrin blinked and stared down at Kamui,

“Yukies?”

“You know, the race that can will themselves to be adult in a quick hurry? They’re only one year old…so I guess they wouldn’t know what was truly right or not.”

“That still doesn’t give them a reason.”

“An excuse?”

Maydrin blinked and stared at Kamui, who had risen, then started to chuckle. An excuse…

“Do you still pay attention to such faerie tales such as that?”

“Of course, nothing else could give me much hope.”

Faerie tales are tales from the sub-race of Faeries. Faeries that were over thousands years old that learned and lived magical tales that happened in so called real life, these tales were all placed in a book which was ironically called “Grimm’s Faerie Book of Tales”

A certain tale was that of an old deaf man. He had lost his daughter the night before but believed that she was still alive, so everyday since then when he would get up, he would pick up a mechanical pencil and say out loud,

“Daughter of mine, you have forgotten your pencil again, do you need led or something?” And he would wait at the one spot he made that comment and wait for his daughter to come rushing up, begging for led or laughing about the fact she forgot her pencil.

But sometimes the old man would also forget and remember suddenly when he was in a public place, and when he would just stay in the place, many people would try to either convince him his daughter was never coming or yelled at him to go home, but he was deaf you see, he never heard them and only waited for his daughter.

One day it got to out of hand for the members of the old council, they talked to the old man and sent him to a therapist. But it always continued, day in and day out. But then one day they decided to trick the old man just because he was hogging up vital bills from the international money bank, so when he called for his daughter again they had a young woman march up and say,

“Father, father dearest, it is I, your daughter dearest. Please give me my pencil back.”

The old deaf man knew better though, he could read her lips and it was not the way his daughter had talked to him, he replied back,

“Begone, wretch, I wish only for my true daughter, and if you wish for her pencil, I will die fighting to keep it safe for her.” The plot had failed but they continued each day. But then one day, one of the nurses came up as he had asked once again for his daughter,

“Dear kind sir, why do you wait for your daughter to pick up her pencil?”

“She cannot function without it, she can’t. I’ve seen her fall to pieces because she can’t write or draw without it.”

“That does sound like a good reason, good sir.”

“Nay, it’s an excuse; she’s so lazy and doesn’t want to ask anyone else for their pen or pencil. She was never a very sociable girl.”

“Well sir, if it is actually an excuse, then shouldn’t you just leave the pencil alone? I’m sure if your daughter really does need it, she’ll come get it herself.”

“Yes…that is true, very true.”

The whole old council was stunned, this nurse, this girl had just spoke to the old man as an equal and spoke of his daughter as though she was still alive, and that pencil that the old man never let anyone touch, he gave it to her to place somewhere so that the daughter could easily pick it up.

The moral of that story was there are reasons and there are excuses, but only reasons are good enough to keep to the death to defend for, excuses are just excuses.

I've been wrong, I've been down
To the bottom of every bottle
Despite words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

“You’re such a baby.”

“Maa, better then to be an adult.” Kamui shrugged, smiling at Maydrin calmly. Maydrin stared back, and he smiled back as well, though it was a particular bitter tinted smile.

“Stupid Nashimi.”

“Moron Human.” Maydrin glared at Kamui as he grinned at him with a great weird kind of smile.

“Idiot.”

“Neanderthal.”

“Ooh, a big word for such a small brained idiot.”

“Hah, a word that isn’t one sentence! That much is the smartest thing you’ve done!”

“Why thank you for noticing, I wouldn’t think you would notice since you have the intelligence of a bacteria worm.”

“Now that’s a compliment, bacteria worms have the intelligence to poison you humans.”

“…”

“…”

The two stared at each other for a long time, and then burst out laughing, falling back just a bit to laugh at the ceiling, smiling at each other as they laughed at their little match.

“God, we’re both stupid.”

“Heh, that’s so true.” They both sighed, sounding exhausted for just laughing for more then a few minutes, their stomachs and insides hurt from laughing so hard. Kamui lay down on his bed, his eyes looking tired once more, “Hey May?”

“Yeah?”

“I woke up when you said the same happened to you…” Maydrin stared quietly once again, his eyes looking very solemn but then he sighed,

“Yeah it did.”

“…I’m sorry…”

“Whatever, it wasn’t like it was your fault anyway.” Kamui stared at Maydrin and he flinched, He looks at me as though it is his fault, He thought to himself, frowning at Kamui.

“You know the other reason why I went out there?” Maydrin blinked, interested in hearing Kamui’s tale, “I thought this wouldn’t happen to me at all. So I probably deserved this.” Maydrin cringed at the Kamui’s tone, it seemed so sad…but it also seemed so damn righteous. And Kamui said those stupid words that Maydrin hated more then anything else on Earth.

“Don’t say that.”

“Why not?”

“Just because you’re a Nashimi, does not mean you deserve it.”

“…Sure I did…”

“NO YOU DIDN’T!” Maydrin yelled at Kamui, taking the boy and staring at him directly in the eyes angrily, “You listen to me Kamui! If I had the power to change fates, I would takes that back and make that thing happen to me! So don’t you dare say you deserved it, no one deserves such a damned thing like that, especially any part of you being torn away. Those…those…things that did that too you deserve to die, and I swear to God, they will pay for what they’ve done somehow.” Kamui stared, as he stared with wide eyes and Maydrin let him go calmly, “I promise.”

“…Maydrin…?” Kamui asked, a blush filling his face somehow.

“I truly mean it that way Kamui…I look at you like a very small little brother…” Kamui nodded and looked down, but he was blushing again, he could feel it on the tips of his cheeks. Maydrin sighed and started to move out, but then there was a little whimper from Kamui,

“Maydrin…”

“Yes Kamui?” Maydrin asked, turning his head back calmly towards the boy who seemed sad,

“If it’s too much of a favor, I’m sorry…but could you sleep with me tonight? Or at least stay by my bedside?” Kamui asked, holding up his blanket to extend to Maydrin calmly. Maydrin stared down at the blanket and slowly looked up to the hand that was connected to it, and then his gaze went to the arm, the shoulder, the lips, and finally Kamui’s whole entire face. Maydrin stared quietly for what seemed to be like an eternity,

“Sure.” Maydrin didn’t know how happy Kamui was to hear that simple comment to come from his mouth, but by the smile on Kamui’s face, he was truly happy, though Maydrin didn’t know why he would be happy at all. Maydrin still hated Kamui, that hadn’t changed, so what was the big deal? Maydrin sighed and sat once again on his chair, “Keep your stupid blanket.”

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
It must have been so bad
Cause living with me must have damn near killed you

“Yes Maydrin.” Maydrin smiled, staring at Kamui, who laid back down for sleep and Maydrin sighed, tilting his head against the rim of the chair once again, and fell asleep in that uncomfortable position, and Kamui placed his blanket over Maydrin, helping the red-head with warmth.

When Maydrin had woke up, he was startled to find that Kamui was no longer in the bed. He panicked inwardly as he got up calmly, the blanket falling off of him, and started to search around for Kamui. The boy could hardly walk let alone get out of bed and start staggering around for unimportant matters like food and stuff, which anyone else could get for him.

“Kamui?” He called out calmly, noticing that was night time through out the area, “Kamui!” He called out a little more impatiently, waiting for the dark haired boy to reply back.

“Maydrin shush.” Maydrin froze a bit and turned to see his care-taker, Asakura.

“I can’t find Kamui.” Maydrin replied back simply, though oddly it sounded kind of cold.

“Oh, is that all?” Maydrin panicked again, what did she mean by, ‘is that all’!?

“Yes, do you know where he is?” Maydrin asked, calming himself down from the urge to choke the life out of Asakura. Asakura nodded softly, then smiled,

“That’s right…you haven’t seen him…”

“Seen him? No, otherwise I wouldn’t be asking where he was, would I?” Maydrin asked, despising the teacher for the moment and wanting to leave her to quickly find Kamui wherever he was. Asakura stared at Maydrin thoughtfully for a few moments, then nodded,

“Come with me, I’ll show you something.” Maydrin blinked, and then growled underneath his breath angrily, he needed to find Kamui! “Don’t worry; you’ll see Kamui along the way.” Asakura added as an after-thought which made Maydrin think she read his mind, though it was just seeing how Maydrin bristled up because he wasn’t doing what he wanted to as his duty for the stupid Nashimi. Maydrin slowly nodded and followed after Asakura carefully as they tread the halls, going up stairs to meet the desired roof. Of course! Why hadn’t Maydrin thought of that? All the orphans went to the roof to either think or calm down from whatever they had as an inner emotional turmoil. Maydrin went ahead of Asakura, knowing the layout of the roof well enough, but when he reached the roof he was surprised to see Kamui, just standing and looking up at the stars.

“Kamui.” Maydrin breathed out, relieved to see the other. Kamui turned, as though startled by Maydrin’s appearance,

“Maydrin…what are you doing here?” Kamui asked, his eyes glowing fearfully as he took a few steps back away from the oncoming red-head.

“Is something wrong?” Maydrin asked, blinking only once as Asakura passed him to pat Kamui on the back.

“Don’t worry Kamui; I think it’ll be okay if Maydrin sees.” Asakura said softly to the frightened Nashimi. Maydrin raised only one eyebrow, confused on the situation that the two were talking about,

“See what?” Asakura just smiled and moved away from Kamui. Kamui paused, as a full moon started to show, the form and lunar light circled a spotlight on Kamui. Kamui froze, as did Maydrin as he stared at Kamui. The light surrounded Kamui for a long time, but then something started to happen.

RIIIIIIP

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

A loud overbearing sound of Kamui’s clothes that he had tore away from his body, revealing every part of the scarred surface that was damaged earlier that day. Maydrin stared, fascinated and a strange feeling that started to build up in his stomach.

Kamui closed his eyes as a weird kind of liquid appeared out of nowhere and started to surround Kamui, circling every part of the boy and there was an unsatisfying sound of flesh being torn apart. Maydrin couldn’t help but stare as big beautiful angelic wings spawned quickly from Kamui’s back, blood dripping from the tips. Kamui’s whole body changed, every scar changed, and his surface became clean, there was nothing wrong with Kamui now, and his hair was even longer. Maydrin looked straight at Kamui, his eyes had changed into a pure gold color and Maydrin could feel the weird feeling running through his stomach again.

“Oops, forgot to tell you, close your eyes!” Asakura said, covering Maydrin’s eyes quickly, though the damage was already done, Maydrin had seen those beautiful golden eyes, and he couldn’t get them out of his mind. “Alright now, here we go, don’t make any sudden moves, he could bite you.” Maydrin wasn’t sure if Asakura was being humorous or not, so when his eyes were uncovered he only stared silently.

There Kamui was, standing in all of his…its naked glory, the wings covering below the waistline and his golden eyes shining curiously, the lunar light had given up on showcasing its new born babe.

“Kamui?” Maydrin asked, curious on the new transformation. Kamui opened his mouth, but then closed it, his beautiful golden eyes were gone, but stayed as a tint through the brown pit of his usual eyes, and they seemed so very sad as they stared back at Maydrin.

“Hm, so you haven’t lost control in this form, I was almost sure that you would have since the elements were not at all pleasant…so you’re still you, aren’t you Kamui?” The angel nodded regretfully, twitching as he stared at Maydrin a little longer. Maydrin grew confused, what was wrong with Kamui? How did he transform into this beautiful being?

“Yes…I guess it’s because it’s the closest thing to myself.” Kamui finally spoke and Maydrin’s heart tightened, his voice sounded so sad and yet so…musical. Maydrin stared as Asakura moved to the angel and covered him with a blanket, which the angel took in a warm embrace.

“What is going on here?” Maydrin demanded, seeing the angel flinch and somehow regretting his tone and question.

“Heh, well it’s time you’ve learned the special thing that Kamui has in his blood.” Maydrin blinked, this was a part of Kamui’s blood? So…was he not a full Nashimi like Maydrin had always thought?

“Maa, Asakura-sensei, you know that it’s possible for anyone to do, don’t say it like I’m special.” Maydrin sighed inwardly, glad that this wasn’t an uncommon thing. Asakura smiled and laughed,

“True, but not all Nashimi can do it; they need to be born the same way as you were.” Asakura commented and Maydrin stared, growing more confused by the minute.

“Same way as Kamui?” Asakura nodded,

“You see, Nashimi can only have the ability to turn human two,” she held up two wavy fingers up, “times in their life span. They are either born with it, or they learn by the age of ten from their parents, if they don’t have either of these they can’t transform.”

“I don’t see what the deal is; Kamui was obviously born with it.” Kamui flinched again, as he sat down on the roof’s edge, frowning darkly to the stars in the sky.

“Actually, no. He wasn’t born with the ability, and his mother wasn’t going to come back to teach him, so Kamui had to take on the Six Year Celestial challenge.” Maydrin blinked, growing only more confused,

“Six Year Celestial Challenge?”

“Yes…it’s a challenge for all Nashimi who can’t transform between the ages of 1-10.” Kamui started calmly, his gaze staying far away from Maydrin’s own. “It’s a challenge so Nashimi can get the ability to turn human…but also into something more.” Kamui quietly said sadly, staring down to the ground.

“The meaning of the Six Celestial Years is because there are six elements throughout this modern day, also six is a holy number and has been since really old ancient times, which makes the challenge all the much harder.” Asakura interrupted cheerfully and Maydrin stared through one eye, as the wind had started to blow his red-hair in the way.

“Okay, but that still doesn’t explain my question.”

“Every year or so, Kamui had gone through a transformation for his elements. The first year was fire, next was wind, then earth, and lastly water. Kamui’s also already gone through his darkness stage, so this is his last Celestial Year, and Kamui will officially be the strongest Nashimi everywhere. There has not been one Nashimi that has survived through the changes that the transformations give.”

“Oh really?” Maydrin asked, growing a bit curious but just a little bit.

“Yes, but there’s also the fact that the forms determine what you will be like in the future…and since Kamui has control over his Light form,” Asakura smiled brightly, “It seems Kamui will be like his angelic type…which is good, I like his long hair.” Kamui blushed as he took a braid that his hair had appeared in to his side and stared at the long string of hair pieces together.

“…He’ll look like an angel?” Maydrin skeptically remarked, raising one brow. Asakura laughed,

“Well he probably won’t grow wings if that’s what you’re thinking, but no…he’ll grow this kind of hair,” Asakura played a bit around with the dark hair that spouted from Kamui’s dark hair, “And his body will heal like this.” Asakura smiled slightly, patting Kamui on the head, “Well if you’ll excuse me for a bit, I need to go make my rounds, have fun Kamui.”

“Uh…Yes Mrs. Asakura!” Kamui called back to her as she walked off and back into the house.

The wind grew cold and blew around, making it more silent then it needed to be on the roof-top. Kamui stared, with a dark flinch as Maydrin started to take steps toward the new angel.

“So you weren’t born with the ability to turn into a Human?”

“No.”

“So…then how?”

“When you came, I asked if I could have the challenge…but to have the ability to change into a human early.”

“They accepted?” Kamui smiled sorely,

“No…The ‘Human’ Kamui is just a mask…I don’t know what my real human form would look like.”

“A…mask?” Maydrin was completely miffed, what could Kamui mean? A mask of a human genetics and looks? How was that possible?

“Yeah…it comes from my blood, the mask is completely formed from my blood and I have to use 2 pints to summon it out every time I need to return to the ‘human’ form.” Maydrin felt shocked, 2 pints? 2 PINTS!?

“K-Kamui…” Maydrin felt himself shake in fear, what a price! “Why?” Kamui smiled,

“I didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable around me…” That’s right…they fought together against a whole band of Nashimi, and fire controllers that were around, they fought together that time and Kamui had learned how much Maydrin hated Nashimis.

Blood, so much blood. It was like it was raining that darkened blood, and that’s what it looked like!

It was too hot to! My flesh, my flesh! Someone kill him!

KILL HIM! KILL HIM!”

“Kamui…” Maydrin had managed to make it to Kamui without the other frowning too darkly, and shocked the other with a tight embrace, “I’m sorry…” Kamui felt himself started to blush but he was too busy being in shock,

“…It’s okay…I get my blood back quickly anyhow, you know the Nashimi don’t die so easily.”

“Yeah I know, but that still doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt you.”

“It’s fine, this is my last year.”

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
To the bottom of every bottle
Despite words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

“The most powerful Nashimi huh?”

“Yeah…” Kamui sighed and pulled away, looking at the stars once again, looking incredibly depressed.

“Aren’t you cold?” Maydrin pointed out, as his gaze couldn’t help but wonder down to the missing parts which no longer shown, but were also no longer scarred.

“No, are you?” Maydrin shook his head quickly as Kamui offered the blanket that had been covering the lower half.

“The last year? Out of control?” Kamui nodded carefully and spoke with hesitance,

“Yes. The last five or so years, I have transformed into all of the elements…and done something to help the elements powers, you see there are many Nashimi that actually take this test, and if they survive through the transformation they will add power to the element they transformed into.”

“…”

“Yeah…I know what you’re thinking, most of the time they transform into darkness the first time, and they add power…”

“…”

“Heh, kind of ironic…”

“What is?”

“I just remembered what I did when I turned into my dark form last year.” Maydrin stared, almost wide-eyed at Kamui and leaned over to the dark-haired boy,

“What?”

“Those rapers…they were born because of me.” Maydrin froze, and almost gagged in the back of his throat as the bile built up,

“…You…?”

“Gave them birth, but after they were born, I slew the village, and killed their mother right in front of them…made them eat her flesh and blood…” Kamui smiled sadistically and Maydrin felt a dark shudder run down his back, what a horrible thing to do! He knew Kamui was evil! “God…I’m so horrible.” Kamui continued smiling but he looked down and his eyes were starting to fill with tears. Almost delicately, Maydrin pulled away part of the tears, staring at the crying angel.

“So they became what they are because of you?”

“I guess…” Kamui hugged himself, “If I knew I would do such a horrible thing in the future, I would have just stayed a Nashimi and let you hate me forever.” Maydrin sighed and leaned against Kamui a bit more,

“Why do you care about my opinion so much?” Kamui stayed silent, he wasn’t too sure himself.

“Maybe because we were little children when it happened…being a child, I want everyone to like me…”

“I don’t think that’s the truth.” Maydrin replied back earnestly and Kamui shrugged, not seeing much point in arguing back, he didn’t feel good at all, and his body was…a disgrace towards all of humanity, especially right now. Why did it have to be Maydrin that had seen him? What was it Maydrin that saw his broken and shattered body first, and now as he was a new form for the night, why was it Maydrin? Kamui couldn’t see how he could ever become a real human being. The one thing that Maydrin liked was another human being. Kamui then smiled politely and placed one hand on Maydrin’s chest,

“So is this why you hate Nashimis so much?” Maydrin blinked and stared down at the hand. Maydrin was shaking inside; memories flew to him as the angel had touched him. The terrible feeling of the sin happening to him, over and over again, the terrible cries coming all around him, and that damn sadistic smile…Kamui withdrew his hand quickly and stared at Maydrin, Maydrin could only stare back carefully, looking very sad.

“Yeah…That’s why I hate Nashimi.” Kamui’s eyes started to brim with tears and he found himself hugging Maydrin, crying his eyes out, begging for forgiveness. Maydrin kept shaking his head, patting the angels back, which was blocked with feathers. Maydrin’s hand started to uncontrol itself, brushing his fingers in and out of the feathers; they were soft just like pillow feathers and they were like a material…Silk. Yes just like silk.

Kamui stopped bawling for a few minutes and…started to purr? Maydrin blinked awkwardly as he could see Kamui’s eyes closed as the other leaned against him, for warmth and comfort. But the really weird thing is, Maydrin couldn’t find himself to stop the pleasure he was giving Kamui. The two ended up on the ground, lying down somehow and Maydrin continued brushing his fingers through the soft material. It took awhile before Kamui stopped purring and looked up towards Maydrin with a dark blush on his face,

“I’m sorry!” Kamui said immediately but was pushed back down as he was trying to rise,

“It’s okay…” Maydrin admitted stubbornly, not wanting the other to disappear. Kamui found his ear against Maydrin’s chest and heard the soft beating coming quite a few times per minute. Kamui smiled,

“Human hearts are so weird.” Kamui admitted, as Maydrin blinked down at him,

“How so?”

“They’re one of the hearts in the entire universe that beat slowly…and yet they are still alive and they are one of the groups who reign throughout the universe so strongly…”

“Hm.”

“Maydrin, do you know how Nashimi came to be?”

“…No…not really…”

“We were on a planet far away from Earth…but we could always see you and we were always jealous. Jealous of the fact that you had a planet so clear and beautiful, also jealous because you had love everywhere, though we didn’t see all the crimes and regrets around the earth...” Maydrin paused his pets to listen to Kamui’s story, “And so we traveled to Earth. At the time, we were superior to them and easily took over their government.” Maydrin angrily paused, a firm frown spreading across his face. “But then there was a powerful type of person, who held magic in their hands. A true magician who could control all elements, and so he binded us.”

“…Binded?”

“Yes, each Nashimi clan throughout the world was binded to a some type of human, so they would find themselves attracted to the humans and give them undying love and even protect them against other jealous Nashimis, the spell was so pure…”

“What happened?” Maydrin asked, knowing the end of that kind of reign was far gone.

“Another master magician came and hated his nemesis so much…he cast a spell to change the Nashimi to have obsession for the humans…a very unhealthy obsession. It wasn’t until a girl, who was a swordswoman of the strongest kind, that this spell had corrupted the entire world.”

“The swordswoman?”

“Not many people know her name, they called her HopeBlade though, and she wielded a Great sword. She could cut half the earth and other planets if she wanted to. So then she gathered the two magicians and they had a final battle, HopeBlade killed them both and used their blood to cure most Nashimis…the ones who were cured moved back to their planet, while the ones obsessed were booted off…”

“…So what else happened?”

“Money. The ones obsessed noticed that their humans were getting richer and greedier; they knew that that would corrupt how their humans thought, and it would help them…” Kamui sighed and leaned into Maydrin’s chest, muttering something that Maydrin didn’t completely understand,

“What was that?”

“I used to belong to one of those clans…” Kamui admitted tearfully, and Maydrin froze completely. “That’s how I remember everything of my life, not just because of the GENRE’s controls that they keep in our minds to bring up every moment of our life, but because when one is obsessed with something, they will remember everything about it until the day they die.”

“…So that’s why your mother got rid of you?” Kamui nodded,

“Didn’t want me hogging the human…” Kamui started to chuckle, but it sounded incredibly weak and sad, “I remember staring at him so much.” Maydrin blinked, him? “I remember him staring back at me, and every time I would look away, blushing…I always tried talked to him, but he never talked back really…I didn’t blame him.” Kamui whispered softly and tearfully, “They tried to get me addicted to the others, especially since I was so young, I could have done anything…but I didn’t. I refused; something told me that this was wrong. That and I was only interested in the boy that had my mother’s heart…” Kamui flinched as he stood from Maydrin, holding his head in pain from the memories, “God…I tried to stop her all the time, but she would always back me off and then the day I took a hit and pain for him…she dumped me here…” Kamui started to tremble from the sheer thought of this past. Maydrin blinked back, staring softly at the trembling angel.

“Are you okay?” Maydrin questioned, standing up. Kamui looked at Maydrin, frightened, “It’s okay, I’m not here to hurt you.”

“I know…” Kamui sobbed, “I know!” Kamui held his head within his palms, sobbing very loudly and Maydrin couldn’t do anything but stare at the poor boy as the angel continued to cry.

“Kamui?” Maydrin questioned and tilted his head, trying to make another grab at the crying boy.

“…” Kamui tore away, staring at Maydrin with darkened eyes, “Hey, I’ve got to go fulfill a ‘Light’ task, well I’m off! See ya Maydrin!”

“Wait!” Maydrin cried out as Kamui stepped off from the roof and his wings worked for him, flying him away from the Orphanage. Maydrin stared, not really sure on what actually happened.

“We’ve all been dirtied…that’s why I’m killing you all…I alone shall carry the sin…”

Never made is as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me

Maydrin didn’t remember him, not that he didn’t mind. He was glad in a weird twisted away.

Kamui stood in front of a house that had been burned to ashes ages ago, only proof that it was a mansion was the beams that didn’t burn all the way. Kamui traveled around the ashes, trying to find what he wanted too.

“You don’t understand! Stupid boy, why don’t you want all of them!?”

“Yeah! We all want all of them!”

“Why aren’t you like us!?”

Haunting voices traveled within Kamui’s mind, and he hated them. Kamui was not much of a hater, but if he had to tell the truth for the rest of his life that would be the first lie he would ever tell everyone about.

“…Love…”

“BRAT!”

“…Fire…” A twisted smile with blood pouring down from the eyes, hiding away the brunette hair that was quickly chopped off angrily. The long slices of hair was sliced and thrown to the side, to be burned for warmth later. The twisted smile just continued to smile and was forced thrown against the wall, bodies surrounding the smile angrily,

“I HATE YOU! YOU HAVE TO DIE!”

“…Death…”

Kamui found what he wanted to and he knelt down to the ashes, only proof of someone was there during the fire was a remaining skull…a few of them actually. Kamui patted his hands together twice, and sighed, praying,

“Forgive the sin placed here, forgive me for leaving, and forgive Maydrin for not knowing the truth…and forgive me for telling the lie.” Kamui patted his hands together again twice and placed them on the ground.

A brilliant flash of light flashed everywhere, surrounding the whole area and restoring the area back to its original plain, with the ashes gone and buried.

“Forgive me.” Kamui said one last time as he turned away from the past.

“I do what I do, because unlike you, I actually love him.”

Kamui had done his good deed…and someday he would do the greatest deed and tell the truth to Maydrin…the terrible truth he never wanted to tell.

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am

Maydrin woke up that morning, trudging angrily through the large halls. His eyes were mostly shut, which you could tell once he kept bumping into the walls.

“Kamui-kun, you should let me cook today!”

“I’m sorry Kitsune, but you know how much nearly everyone hates your food, I don’t want to hear Maydrin grumbling so early.”

“Well at least sit down while you’re cooking, it’s ridiculous.”

“It doesn’t hurt that much, I promise.”

“You are one terrible liar Kamui.” Maydrin’s head peeked up to hear the arguments and protests of most of the orphans, but the one voice he was really glad to hear was Kamui’s. His eyes brightened immediately as he moved out to greet the Nashimi cheerfully, but stopped cold as he looked at Kamui. Kamui was in his regular human form, but there were tears at his clothes, at least the back part of it.

“…”

“Morning!” Maydrin tensed as Noroi passed Maydrin, greeting mainly Nyuki as he sat down. Kamui smiled back simply and stretched, “What’s with the tears?”

“Well-“ There was a big loud sound and a burst of soft small pair of furry wings appeared from Kamui’s back, flouting above, appearing to be a big mink coat. Noroi blinked slowly as did Maydrin, heh…so Asakura-sensei was wrong…

“Wings? Where did they come from?” Noroi asked, curiously. Kamui shrugged, not really knowing the true answer either.

“All we know is that they just pop up randomly.” Nyuki snickered behind her hand, as Inuki came in with a very dull look. Kamui spotted Maydrin and a blush spelt all over Kamui’s face, Maydrin blinked only once as Kamui’s wings grew a bit, but were still very fluffy.

“Good morning Maydrin…”

“…Morning…” Maydrin simply replied and Ryoko spared a grin at the two, who avoided each others gazes easily. A naughty idea spread across Ryoko’s mind as she thought of pairing Maydrin and Kamui once again. “So how is the most powerful Nashimi in the world doing?” Everyone paused around the kitchen/dining room, and took a long stare at the Nashimi, whose wings retracted once again.

“He could be better.” Maydrin chuckled as Kamui sighed and placed all the breakfast food he made for the others cheerfully.

“Most powerful Nashimi? That would explain a few things.” Kitsune noted, as Kamui winced as his wings burst out once again. Inuki rubbed his eyes, now only seeing the true effects of the glimmering wings.

“Kamui…may I speak to you?” Maydrin asked calmly, pointing his head towards the outside. Ryoko’s grin got more cheerful and as evilly as she thought before as Kamui nodded and limped after Maydrin. Ryoko slipped out carefully, no one even noticed and she followed after them.

“…and you could have been hurt, what the hell were you thinking?”

“Heh, actually last night was the calmest of the element years that I’ve ever had.”

“What do you mean? You’ve been though worse?” Ryoko continued hiding to hear their conversation.

“…Yes…” There was a loud aggravating sigh…then a quiet pause…

“Well are you at least going to stop transforming into that mask of yours? And what is with the wings?”

“I don’t know honestly about the wings, but…I don’t want to transform into a real human yet.” Ryoko blinked, though she was growing confused by the conversation, she could tell that Kamui was obviously stronger then he was yesterday when he was…

“Kamui…” Ryoko muttered silently, listening out to the conversation, begging for the two to speak to each other.

“Why not!?”

“I…I want to save myself…”

“Kamui, you’ve been all sorts of hell and you’re not going to transform?”

“I told you…I want…I want to save…”

“For what?”

“For the boy…”

“…?”

“He’s still alive out there…I know it. And I want to see him again, and I want to win his heart first before I become human.”

“But why? I thought you were above the stupid ‘bond’ as you call it!”

“…I am…and yet I’m not. Maydrin, you don’t know how it feels!”

“And I’m glad for it! I HATE YOU!”

“…” Ryoko started shaking from the wall she was hiding from the boys, shaking tearfully as Maydrin spat out cruel words for Kamui. Why was Maydrin like this? Though Ryoko knew that he hated Nashimis, he was never this…this…this mean to the gentle brown-eyed boy. Why was Maydrin cussing Kamui out, and why wasn’t Kamui protecting himself? Ryoko covered her face with both her hands, sobbing quietly as Maydrin continued.

When it stopped, only Kamui was standing and not crying. Maydrin had fallen on his knees, tears running down his eyes in anger.

“Why?”

“…” Kamui bent down and gave a kiss to Maydrin on the forehead, “Maydrin, I, unlike my ancestors, loved the human I was bonded with… and I never want to forget that love…I can feel it inside of me, I love him more then anything alive. I love him more then some stupid bond can try and arrange as just a fixation, I love him and I want him to accept me before I turn human for him.” Maydrin stared up at Kamui, confused by his sentence and Kamui only smiled back simply. Maydrin sighed and leaned against Kamui,

“I’m so tired…you kept me awake last night.”

“That’s okay…I didn’t get any sleep either.”

“Nightmares?”

“Yes.”

“Of course.”

“You had them too?”

“For the first few months, but then you forget and the nightmares go away.”

“You never really forgot.”

“Yes, but my mind tells me I did.”

“Heh, you have a silly mind Maydrin.”

“As do you, Nashimi.” They both laughed at each other, though Maydrin could see the growing sadness in Kamui’s eyes, Maydrin could see…that the boy really did want to transform into a human for Maydrin… but he was saving himself…He must have really loved whoever he was bonded with. Maydrin could feel a little jealously growing in his heart, but he didn’t mind, so he forgive and ignored the harsh pang in his heart. “Come on, I’m sure you’re hungry.”

“Un.” Kamui nodded and the two walked off to eat food.

Ryoko didn’t move from her spot, tears formed in her eyes so brightly as she had heard that conversation. Unlike Maydrin, she couldn’t ignore the jealous pangs of her heart, not just because she liked Kamui…but because Kamui could devote himself so well to someone…

“Sanosuke…” Ryoko admitted to herself, sobbing quietly to herself. Sadly, she didn’t notice the shadow forming behind her and the only thing she could do was scream as her body was grabbed at and formed away through the shadows.

“…” Kitsune blinked at Nyuki who had frozen and dropped her fork.

“What’s wrong?”

“Ryoko…” She whispered then stood up angrily, “RYOKO!” Kitsune blinked then laughed,

“What, did she poison your food or something?”

“No…she…she’s gone!” Nyuki retreated to search around the Orphanage; Kitsune followed her loyally, confused by what Nyuki meant. But it must have been serious because of Nyuki’s serious expression and form.

“Hey, look for Ryoko!” Kitsune asked as Nyuki passed Inuki and Desria, Kitsune kept advising people to try and find Ryoko but no sign of her could be found.

“Ah! There’s someone who will know! Kamui!” Nyuki cried out towards the boy, his wings spurt out nervously as he turned to face her,

“Yes?”

“What’s going on?” Maydrin asked, from right behind him, tilting one eyebrow open.

“Where’s Ryoko?”

“Wasn’t she eating with you guys?” Nyuki froze coldly, and started to shiver,

“…She was…no…NO!” Nyuki held her head, screaming and crying out for Ryoko. Kitsune blinked, still unsure by what could have happened. Kamui stared at Nyuki with the same realization as Maydrin copied Kitsune.

“No…those bastards…”

“Kamui, what happened?”

“They came…for Ryoko…” Kamui’s eyes grew dark as did his wings in a brilliant flash of dark purple light. Maydrin backed up a bit and twitched as the Kamui’s dark hair grew and became more spiky, his clothes changed to an ever-tight black outfit and his eyes transformed into an evil red color, “By my hands…” Maydrin stared widely as Kamui spread his new wings and flew off, right through the roof.

“Crap! We’ve got to go after him!” Maydrin turned to see Asakura, who was biting her outer-skin.

“Why, what was that?”

“That was the Kamui turned into last year, he isn’t his true self right now!”

“That…that’s the Dark Kamui?”

“Yes, now let’s move!” Asakura quickly said, moving outside as Kitsune took Nyuki’s hand and lead her towards the van that Asakura had planned ahead for. Noroi, Inuki and Desria appeared magically as they climbed right into the van. Maydrin took the front and looked at radar that was inside each of the Orphans. (They couldn’t use it earlier because Kamui was way too off the radar) and there was a loud beep as Asakura took off to follow the figure getting away from the radar. Asakura growled and put her van into gear, chasing after Kamui’s figure who continued to go away faster and faster.

“We’re going to lose him.” Maydrin noted then turned over towards Kitsune, “How’s your yoko?” Kitsune blinked then frowned, concentrating for only a second,

“Blood red.”

“Great.” Nyuki sarcastically put in, growling darkly to herself. Whenever Kitsune’s yoko gave the blood red color, it would be bad news for our heroes, mainly there was a reminder of the times was when Noroi almost got hanged, Nyuki almost got killed in a game and almost when Desria went insane, each time Kitsune’s yoko was blood red. “We really should hurry…” Nyuki commented softly and sadly.

“Maydrin, what about part of your dark chi?” Inuki asked quietly from behind Nyuki and everyone stared over at Maydrin, who blinked.

“My dark chi?”

“Yeah…if this is the ‘dark’ Kamui, then wouldn’t he have dark kind of chi?”

“…” Silence consumed the van except from the constant rumbling of the van’s popping rolling wheels. Maydrin nodded and concentrated to feel the dark energy within the air to catch up and follow Kamui. Maydrin was shocked as he felt himself right besides Kamui’s chi. It was a very powerful dark chi, it made Maydrin shake. Maydrin stared through shocked eyes as Kamui simply smirked at Maydrin as he flew away faster. Maydrin trembled from the sheer force of dark chi that surrounded Kamui…and he saw him. Dark chi manipulators could not control what they could see from other dark chi users…but Kamui made it look like he was all in control. Maydrin continued to follow Kamui then gasped as Kamui took his dark chi form in his own arms.

“What are you doing?”

“Why Maydrin, I thought you’d be happy to see me.” Maydrin struggled but found that he could barely even move…which was amazing considering he was in his spiritual mode! He should have been in an unphysical form!

“Did you forget about Ryoko?”

“No of course not.” Kamui smiled charmingly at the red-head, which made him shudder to the very core, this dark Kamui did not feel at all good. Too much of a dark chi aura, too strong…too…scary.

“Then what are you doing? You shouldn’t be just rushing in!”

“Heh, the morons didn’t know who they were dealing with when they raped me…morons…they will die and the best way to kill is if you rush right in.” Maydrin growled,

“Kamui, let me go!”

“Hmhmmm…” Kamui muttered listlessly and surprised Maydrin as he hugged him as though he was just a giant teddy-bear.

“LET ME GO!” Maydrin cried out, blushing darkly from embarrassment. Kamui shushed Maydrin as he flew faster, “Where are you taking me?”

“We’re following Ryoko’s scent, take a long look at the scenery, it will help you come…” Maydrin blinked and concentrated on the scenery that they passed by quickly, Kamui’s speed was unbelievable!

“…Kamui…”

“Shhh…” Kamui simply replied back, a simple grin upon his face that didn’t look like him. Maydrin growled to himself as Kamui continued to cuddle next to him softly. This wasn’t Kamui, this calm and yet so angry and powerful person…he was not Kamui, no matter what anyone told Maydrin. No matter the undeniable proof, this…thing was not Kamui. Maydrin stayed silent as Kamui swept his wings up and onto a large roof and he let Maydrin go, “Go ahead, they’ll be dead by the time you arrive though.” Maydrin shuddered to himself and disappeared back into his body. Asakura was still moving, though she had long lost Kamui.

“We better hurry, he’s going to kill.”

“…I just hope Ryoko is okay…Kamui can handle himself just fine.” Asakura quietly said, frowning as Maydrin pointed what turns to take and where.

“He’s horrible.” Maydrin muttered back, shivering as the lingering touches spread across his body that his spirit had felt earlier. It was unbelievable how strong Kamui was…unbelievable…

“What happened?” Asakura asked curiously, tilting only one of her eyes to face Maydrin as she turned a left corner that Maydrin pointed out.

“He could actually see me Asakura, he saw me!” Maydrin complied in explaining, frowning darkly from the sheer thought of Kamui’s power, “And he kept smiling whenever he said he was going to kill them…”

“…”

“That really doesn’t sound like Kamui.”

“It is right now.” Asakura muttered softly and sadly, “He was worse last time.”

“…How?”

“Let’s just say…that out of all the psychos, murderers, therapists,” Maydrin couldn’t help but raise one eyebrow from the word, “and worldly diseases…Kamui was like the king of them all, ruthless, cruel, cold and…just scary.” Asakura muttered darkly, her dark eyes sadly tilting down as she stared ahead. The orphans stared carefully, not sure on how to respond about the evil they had just heard that the great Kamui was.

“How are we going to stop him?” Maydrin questioned, having felt Kamui’s overwhelming power firsthand. Asakura stared straight ahead and all of the orphans stared at her, carefully waiting for an answer.

“I don’t know.”

It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
To the bottom of every bottle
Despite words in my head

Ryoko’s eyes stared into pure darkness, tears welled up in her eyes but her mouth couldn’t bawl or cry out for any kind of help for she was gagged and bound so tightly that it hurt horribly, especially with the rope all around her body, being very tight against her firm parts. Ryoko closed her eyes in pain, sobbing to herself as she feared for the pain she thought of what was going to happen to her.

“She’s so pretty.”

“I can sense her GENRE’s power, it’s so beautiful.”

“What else could we expect from a romance?” Ryoko peered one eye open, though clouded through her tears she could see the two evil characters in front of her. One was a boy and the other was a girl, the girl wore pure black, barely covering her up in a miniskirt and a tube top with make-up and her black hair cascading down easily, staring down Ryoko with a smirk. The boy also had long black hair, his eyes firmly set upon Ryoko as well but he was wearing only khaki shorts, though that seemed to be dipping down. Ryoko whimpered as she opened both of her eyes, terrified.

“I just love looking at the face of someone who wishes for freedom.”

“Yes, it’s so funny to look at…”

LEAVE ME ALONE! Go away! God…please help me! GO AWAY!

“More twisted then I, how sad.” Ryoko peeked up as her kidnappers turned to the new voice and Ryoko’s eyes widened to see Kamui…but he looked so dark, it scared Ryoko more then the kidnappers, but she was still relieved underneath.

You!” They both shouted, glaring at Kamui who just smirked under the pressure of their glares.

“Of course, me. You’ve damaged me you know, how silly to even resort to such a thing. I may be a killer and a burner of cities, but I would never rape innocents.”

“Innocents? HA! There is no such thing as innocent anymore.” Kamui glared,

“You would have been innocent if you had not given up your childhood.”

“It’s better to be an adult.” Kamui shook his head,

“Sad pathetic beings. I’ll ease your pain.” They both glared at him and started forward, charging at the mysterious formed Kamui and Kamui just smirked, his wings drawing themselves up as the charging after Kamui. Ryoko stiffened as the girl threw what seemed to be a compacted fireball straight at Kamui. Kamui just smirked once again and spread his arms out, creating a dark barrier between him and the impact. There was a loud BOOM all around the area, wind blew and dust gathered with the wind, staring ahead. Kamui was unfazed by the attack, “Have to rely on such weak technology as the compacts? Truly you had given up your childhood for such a weak power.”

“SHUT UP!” The girl yelled at him again, throwing another but this time Kamui grabbed it. Ryoko was struggling against her bounds, nearly screaming at Kamui for not trying to protect himself again. The compact fireball blew up in his hands, and it still didn’t even leave a scar.

“Pathetic.” They both backed up, staring at Kamui with terror.

“You need to die!”

“…” Kamui stared quietly, raising one hand,

“You tried to rape her, didn’t you? You were thinking it, weren’t you? NO ONE MAY TOUCH RYOKO WITHOUT HER PERMISSION!” Ryoko stood still for a second, staring at the anger that was shifted within Kamui’s eyes. Ryoko felt like crying, Kamui cared so much about her, it was scary…

“And if we did?”

“Then it’s you that must die! All those poor people!”

“HOW DARE YOU SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT!”

“Yeah, you killed us the day we were born, how dare YOU judge us one what we’ve done!”

“That was never truly me!” Kamui called back out, a large psychic ball surrounding his palm that had been face up, “And I do deserve retribution for what I’ve done, but YOU had no right to involve others, ESPECIALLY RYOKO!” Ryoko felt moved, and struggled through her binds, managing to get the gag out,

“Kamui…” Ryoko whispered, staring at the dark-haired boy gently, “Kamui, please don’t kill them.” Ryoko continued, trying to convince him calmly.

“And why not? They tried to hurt you…and they’ve hurt so many others already! And there are some of them that are still alive, they’ll live through that anguish throughout all of their lives, they need to die!”

“But…” Ryoko timidly replied, staring at the two, not quite sure of what had happened between them and Kamui, “Kamui, they’re right…what right do we have to judge them about their lives?”

“Heh…that’s right.” The man grunted, smirking as he moved quickly to Ryoko, holding a knife to the girl’s throat.

“Ugnh…”

“Ryoko!”

“Don’t you dare move.” The girl demanded, glaring at Kamui as his ball disappeared and he stared quietly at Ryoko and her captor. “You need to die first…”

“Don’t you dare hurt her.” They both grinned, staring at Ryoko sadistically,

“Why not? Such pretty GENRE.”

“And such a pretty girl.” Ryoko cringed as the man licked her cheek, both of them grinning sadistically to Kamui.

“LEAVE HER ALONE!” Kamui demanded, glaring at the man with a furious gaze.

“Heh…do you want to touch her?” Ryoko blinked as did Kamui, silence reigned throughout the room.

“What?”

“Ohhh that would explain a LOT.” The woman spoke, grinning sadistically as her partner, “You want her for yourself.”

“No! I just don’t want her hurt!”

“What a lie, you just want to hear her writhing underneath you, yelling at you to stop, begging and pleading.”

“Though we prefer it when they’re binded.”

“Don’t tell me of your sick habits, it’s disgusting…and I’ve already been through it.” The two kidnappers chuckled, bringing Ryoko closer to them and Kamui strained all he had to charge in and kill the two right then and there.

“Truly though…she’s so pretty.”

“What a waste, not to be taken…”

Leave her alone.” Kamui demanded, growing darker around the area, even clouding the oxygen. Ryoko coughed a bit and winced as part of the knife had met her throat from the sudden action.

“Kamui, please…” Ryoko pleaded, tears continuing to come out from pain.

“Ryoko…” Kamui panicked, he looked a little different then when he entered, he look so sad, like a different element…different element. Kamui closed his eyes and his long spiky hair dripped down a bit as his clothes turned into a pure blue color. “Let her go!”

“No.” They both answered and water built up behind Kamui’s back, glaring ahead the two.

“WATERFALL!” Kamui cried out, giving the spell’s name out and throwing it to the kidnappers. They both gaped at the oncoming flood coming their way then dodged it quickly, yelling in surprise as the water splashed against the wall and Ryoko winced as it jumped back to spray their backs. The kidnappers hissed as well, feeling the pain that came from the harsh splash of the water.

“Idiot.” They both mocked and Ryoko yelled as the knife came closer to her throat, she cried out loud for help, but the knife was paused. Silence consumed the room as the knife was surrounded by a dark glow.

“I would suggest you take a few steps away from Ryoko.” All of them turned to gaze at an opened door that revealed the red-headed Maydrin, with the light shining down on him mysteriously to make him appear as a savior.

“MAYDRIN!” Ryoko cried out gleefully, giving the red-head her best smile, so happy to see the other. Kamui smiled as well, staring as the red-head took a few steps to stay right near the now lighter hair colored boy.

“I must admit, I’m surprised that you didn’t kill them.” Maydrin said softly to Kamui and the other blushed a bit,

“They had Ryoko…I didn’t want to hurt her.”

“That’s also a shock to hear.” Kamui nodded shamely,

“Sorry, I’m weird when I go Dark.”

“No kidding.” The kidnappers stared, trying to find a way to escape and with their precious GENRE girl. Ryoko was still tied to a chair and couldn’t move from the man’s grasp on her. The man started to move back but a deadly voice spoke behind him,

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” The man screamed as he felt a sharp jab in his back, knocking him foreword.

“Ah, Nyuki!” Nyuki smirked a bit, her Buddotoken resting on her shoulder after having shoved the man on his way.

“Are you okay Ryoko?” Nyuki asked gently, pointing her training sword to the woman who was also on her way to running away, a red glow started on the edge of Nyuki’s sword, “And you, if you dare budge I swear, only God could have mercy on your soul.” Nyuki glared darkly, frowning. The woman nodded carefully, shaking to the very edge.

“Thank you!” Ryoko smiled to her friends as she had been untied by the adorable dragon and hugged Kamui, “Thank you so much.” Kamui blinked and smiled back at her,

“You’re welcome my little sister.”

“Heh.”

After that it was kind of amazing how it settled out. The Yukies went to jail, cursing at Kamui and swearing they would be back but Kamui ignored them with a vicious gaze. A lot of families came to adopt Kamui because he had saved the world from experiencing such another terrible act. Kamui refused, saying he belong here until the one he loved accepted him, though not many people would get what exactly Kamui meant, they understood.

“So how was your day at school today?”

“…”

“It was great Kamui, thanks for asking.”

“And you Maydrin?”

“…Fine…”

Kamui gave Maydrin a gentle smile and the three walked in for the Orphanage together, all with gentle hidden smiles on their faces. Glad to live through the day to tell the tales once again.

Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

End Song.

Disclaimer: All characters and ideas belonged to me throughout the story, the only thing that I did not have an overall claim over is the song that I based this chapter from, “How You Remind Me” By Nickelback.

Notes

This is a written chapter of my online comic that I told online, though I haven’t actually drawn out this chapter yet, this is the basic thought out pattern to help me plan out my comic. This is a way to look at the future as the GENREs that we know of control over the government and so everyone has to follow their so called genre. All of these characters are known as the main characters for my comic that I draw online, yes there is quite a bit of a shounen-ai hinting and I’m sorry if you did not appreciate it. And that’s all really about this chapter/song. I tend to do all of the chapters with titles of songs that I like or think fit the uncoming story chapter well, and this is one of my favorites to me in my mind as soon as I write it down in comic format.

Yes I know this is a rather odd thing to do since I do not have the other chapters up but this chapter is coming up soon and I wanted to type down what I wanted of what to mostly happen, and so that’s that.

If you have any questions you can definitely e-mail me and yes this is a shamless plug but please check out my comic, the art isn’t that good but you may like it if you liked this. :)
