A More Important Myth

---

You don’t love me

That much I’ve seen

Because something’s more important

Though it’s no more than a dream.

It’s ancient and weary

Changing with each year

And it’s only good for one thing:

Inducing fear.

This more important myth

Ranks high above me

But I’m your flesh and blood

And you don’t seem to see.

That this more important myth

Could very well be fake

And putting all your faith in it

Could be a mistake.

You don’t notice this

Nor your daughter standing by

You don’t seem to realize

How much you make her cry.

And my tears are for you

For the father I miss

For the one who should love me

But barely exists.

And all because of this?

Just some more important myth

This thing that I can’t comprehend

And don’t want to put up with.

It shouldn’t matter more

I’m his only girl

But now he’s joined the rest

And become part of the whirl.

And I’ve lost my father to it

That I can guarantee

Because this more important myth

Is more important than me.
