How to understand

the words they wrote down

I think I’m

comprehending, but unsure

Making

their syllables have meanings now

That perhaps they

never really held then

As prisoners

of my empathy they

Have to rely on

my unraveling

Their complicated

schemes and chains of thought

Wild love affairs and wars

that glory brought

Even today don’t seem

so out of place

And more’s the scare

in this that man’s not changed

That raw emotions

rule and power mind

Despite all logic

written down in black
