The Moonlit Date

Sitting here, watching you watching me
It’s just a game we play
Others don’t notice
It’s just you and me

The world around us vanishes into space
It’s not just us
We’re here together in the void
And nothing is in the way

The music plays and we start to dace
A sensual slow song
Which means so much
To you and me

We talk and laugh and play all night
Without a care in the world
Because how can anyone get in the way
When it’s just us?

The stars shine so brightly as we watch them together
The sun will rise soon
Saying goodbye to the moon
And ending this dance

But I know it’s only make believe,
Watching you watching me
There are too many miles that separate
My darling you from me

Our date, the dance and the moonlight
Aren’t really there at all
They’re created by our words
As we write them here

We have our relationship via this ‘net
And our dates over msn
But in the night, when we’re in bed
Then we are alone.

18th April 2005
Based on my memories of virtual ‘dates’ with my girlfriend from Israel.
