So Much
By Erin Lynn
Stories flow from long ago,
through the mouth of a man
who’s seen so much.
His eyes exclaim his thoughts and emotions
at the end of a long wooden table
where the family gathers,
to hear an inspiring tale each evening.
In tattered blue jeans
that fray at the knees,
a hardworking soul stays seated at his place,
as empty plates pile with napkins,
each person full from the food he struggled for.
Each day.
His face full of wrinkles, old and new,
one for each year that made him wise.
Through the shields of glass that cover his sight,
lies the soul of a proud man,
who knows so much.
