"We can stay up as long as we want sis! Why go to bed?" Jonas sat on the couch in his pajamas, flipping across channels with a bag of chips. "No thanks! I've got a test tomorrow and I'm tired! Besides, if mom and dad come home and see your lazy butt still sitting in front of the TV, they'd chop you into hash!" Replied Holly, his sister, and went to brush her teeth. "Ha ha, very funny." It was the first night they were ever left alone in the house, Holly finally being old enough to babysit.

Later, when she had finally finished all of her before-bed rituals (like rubbing moisturizer into her skin and braiding her hair) she finally retired into her bedroom and lay on her bed. It was a cool clear night, the gibbous moon brightly shining into her room. She had decided to leave her window open, since it was such a lovely summer night here in the suburbs.

But then she noticed a faint stirring in the tree by her window. "Shadix?" She called out, thinking it was her cat. The yellow-eyed black Selkirk rex often used the branches of their apple tree to enter her window after its prowlings in the evening.

"Here kitty, kitty, kitty..." She stood up and went to her window, but it wasn't Shadix that appeared to be sitting in the branches, but a pale faced teenage boy, only a few years older than she was. She should have closed the window, she should have run, but she didn't. She simply stood there, almost entranced, simply staring at him.

The boy continued to sit there, and they assessed each other in silence. He was wearing old torn jeans, and a tattered gray shirt, with white sneakers. But he was handsome, with dark, strong features, his wavy black hair neatly tied back at the nape of his neck. He wore a quizzical smile on his pale face, and his eyes glinted in the moonlight. What hypnotic eyes they were, deep and focused, silvery gray eyes that seem to flow like mercury.

Finally, he raised his hand, offering her to take it and whispered: "Would you trust me?" His voice was beautiful, and elegant, with a slight tinge of a British accent, but felt ancient, as though he were an older man trapped in a youth's body. But Holly jolted out of her stupor when he spoke, and instantly reached for her cell phone. "Who are you?! What are doing at my window?! Go away or I'll call the police"

He chuckled wryly, an unearthly sound that caused shivers to run down her spine. "I wouldn't be too alarmed my dear. I wouldn't hurt you. Not really." She instantly began punching numbers into her phone in panic. In a flash, he was inside the room and wrenched the device away from her, then he pinned her down on the floor. She wanted to scream, but his proximity silenced her, and she felt mute and helpless in his grasp. "I've been watching you for so long now..." He whispered in her ear, and buried his face in her neck.

She felt his tongue touching her skin, licking her, and she thought with rising horror that he was going to rape her, right there in her own bedroom. She wanted to struggle, to resist him, to scream at the top of her lungs, but she felt numbed, and could not. Suddenly she felt two fangs bite down on her neck, painfully, and then felt a strange sucking sensation. Her eyes widened as she realized: "Vampire"

Jonas switched off the television, crumpled the chips bag into a ball and threw it basketball style into the thrash can. It bounced off the lid and landed on the floor. "Oh man..." He grumbled as he stood up and threw it away properly. "How can I try out for the basketball team when I cant even get garbage in?"

He went to the bathroom and wanted to brush his teeth, but they had run out of toothpaste. He opened the medicine cabinet but there was no toothpaste there either. "Oh man, sis! Did you use up the toothpaste?" There was no answer. "Holly! I said: Did you use up the toothpaste?! Holly?"

He went to her room, and found the door slightly ajar. He peeked in and saw his sister with some guy in a T-shirt on the floor. "What are the doing? Are they kissing or something?" He thought to himself. Then he smiled mischievously. "Someone's going to get busted... bringing boys into her bedroom. Tsk tsk." He entered. "Hey, I thought you said you didn't have a boyfriend!" But then he stopped as the boy looked up from his sister with a dribble of blood sliding down his chin.

Jonas stood rooted at the spot as terror crept into his body. The boy snarled at him, showing its blood stained fangs. He saw its incandescent silver eyes flash as it picked up Holly and attempted to jump out the window.

"Holly"

Jonas moved by instinct as he ran towards the youth and grabbed at his sister. He was able to hold on to her leg but was dragged by the vampire's strength and nearly fell into the bushes below. "No you don't!" He screamed, and pulled, placing his feet at the window's frame. They tugged the unconscious girl back and forth. "You cant get my sister you freak!" Yet his grip failed and he fell over backwards, helplessly watching his sister being flown away into the night.

"Holly!" He cried desperately. "Holly!!"
