But will he unleash another creature to join those that already prowl the night in search for blood? She was going to kill. He knew it. Yet he couldn't bear the thought of leaving her there, left at the mercy of the Strikers that were not able to stop the demon that did this to her. She is his sister. He didn't want her to die.
Slowly, he unlocked the cage. Holly watched impatiently, hunger beginning to cloud her vision. The moment the lock clicked open she burst out of the cage and instinctively grabbed her brother's throat. Jonas choked as she placed her face near his, smelling him like a hungry animal. "Thank you Jonas." She said quietly. Kirsten spun around as she sensed something was wrong. "Jonas!" She cried.
Before she could move, Holly let go of Jonas and leapt into the air. She swooped down at Kirsten, fangs bared and ready for her first kill. Kirsten was knocked over with the vampire on top of her, and she was desperately trying to prevent it from taking a bite. She tried to take out her gun but it was impossible to let go of Holly and reach for it.
"Jonas!" She called out. "Take the ax!" She managed to throw the creature away from her, making it fall face first into the gravel. She jumped on top of it and held her down by the shoulders, but Holly was able to claw at her wrists and she nearly let go, and yet she held on. Jonas raced for the nearest weapon and wielded it in his hands, regretting what he had done. "Holly! Stop it! Don't kill her, you're not like that!" His pleas fell on deaf ears.
She did not seem to hear him but continued attacking. Holly couldn't escape from Kirsten's grip on her, but snarled and raised her head hungrily, still trying to bite. Kirsten used her left hand to first grab the hair and pull her head back painfully and then smashed it back down, grinding the face into the floor. "You have to kill her!" Kirsten groaned in the effort of keeping her down. "Use the ax! Do it! Do it now!" He hurried towards the struggling pair. He looked down on them, his sister almost oblivious to what he was about to do.
Jonas raised the ax high above his head, poised to behead her in one swift motion. He was trembling, sorrow and hesitation knotting his brow. "I don't want to do this..." he whispered, the weapon in his hand quivering.
Kirsten kept her weight firmly upon the struggling vampire, sweat pouring down her face in the effort of subduing her. "What are you waiting for Jonas?! Kill her!!"
Holly growled at her, baring her fangs in a menacing expression. She was thirsty, and she wouldn't allow anyone to stop her from feeding, yet the lack of blood already was beginning to take its toll. She was weakening.
"Kill her!!"
Overcome with the lust for blood, the vampire girl heaved and nearly threw Kirsten off of her, spinning around to take a bite out of her neck. But Kirsten was too quick for her, and using the hardened skill of a Striker, instantly knocked her down once more with her entire body and kept pushing her against the floor. One of Holly's ribs had cracked on the impact. She hissed as her vampiric body flooded with pain from the blow.
She slumped on the ground, panting, her skin already beginning to decompose from the lack of feeding. She slowly lifted her head from the floor and looked at her brother. Her face softened, wrought with pain and agony, pleading that he put an end to this. She gave him a weak smile.
"Please bro... let me go... I'm... I'm tired." she gasped. Jonas was still holding the ax, shaking. "I can't do that sis..." he said quietly. "You'll hurt people, like he hurt you"
She mournfully smiled once more, those evil little fangs glinting. The sight of seeing the face of his beloved sister tainted with them maddened him. Then she spoke once more."I knew that... that the message was fake... I-I knew it... was a trap. That you were part of it." Holly gave out a pitiful howl as Kirsten added more weight on her heaving chest.
Jonas was now confused, completely ignoring Kirsten's shouts. "Then- then why did you come sis?" He stammered. "Y-you should have stayed where you are! W-why did you come w-when you knew you are being hunted"
"You needed me... I had my doubts... But I couldn't... I couldn't just leave my little brother... What if... it was true? I-I'd never forgive myself." Jonas simply stood there, his eyes already stinging from a welling of tears. The ax shook precariously in his grasp. "Just do it!!!" Screamed Kirsten. "You have to behead her! Even when she dries up now, her ashes would regenerate with the first contact of blood! Do it"
He looked at Kirsten's sweaty face all knotted in anger, and then back to Holly's, gasping under her captor's weight. Tears fell from his cheek as he whispered "I'm sorry"
He brought down the ax in one powerful swipe, and Holly simply shut her eyes as her neck got severed. Immediately, the body disintegrated into a cloud of mist and then was strangely blown by an unnatural wind and was swept away into the heavens. Jonas wept as he watched the mist rise, high into the starry sky and then disappear into the clouds. "What is she doing?" Asked Jonas grimly, his face streaked with tears, glistening by the moonlight. "Her remains are flying to the Nether world... the final resting place of all of the damned. There she will stay and never rise again..."
Kirsten turned and began walking away. "It's been a long night, and the sun will soon rise." She said, picking up her gear. "But I will not rest until that fiend who turned your sister is brought to rest. I'm sorry. I really am. But you could make a fine Striker Jonas... If you seek revenge, you could always join us." She gently patted his shoulder and disappeared from the park.
Jonas spent a long time gazing into the sky where the remains of his sister had disappeared, silently weeping for his loss. "Goodbye sis..." He said mournfully, then turned and followed the direction Kirsten had gone.
Far above, just hidden from view behind the tall trees in the park, Nyxhelm had watched the sorrowful spectacle below. "So now her brother seeks vengeance..." He said to himself. "He wishes to give justice to what I had done and to what she had to endure..."
The moon illuminated his youthful visage, grieving for the loss of his fledgling. Partings are common, but had always been painful. He knew that, and pitied that boy who now shares his loss. He had robbed him of his sister, in hopes that she may save him from his immortal solitude, but now both of them feel that same stifling loneliness, all because of his own selfish desires. "He deserves his revenge." He whispered, and flew away to escape the approach of the glistening dawn.
# So what do you think of my first vampire story? Eventually I'll write others featuring Nyxhelm and Jonas. They kind of grew on me. As is my style, I have always taken my ideas from my dreams. I had dreamt this through Kirsten's eyes. I had always dreamt about vampires for some strange reason, but this had been my first dream that I wasn't the vampire.#
