Mae govannen! Okay, I’ve actually got the last chapter – and even epilogue – of Acceptance finished, but computer problems are preventing me from sending it to my beta and then posting. So, this is just another small bit to tide you over. (Btw, I’m trying to get several different people for help with the MAJOR sequel of Acceptance – perfect grammar and spelling not needed, but willingness to talk and act as a sounding board – and deliver criticism – is a must. Interested? Drop a review or e-mail, please!)

Anyway, the poem. Enjoy!

Firefly Wishes

-----

Star light, star bright,

First star I see tonight,

Wish I may, wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight…

-----

See the little child blowing

bubbles made of rainbow glass?

See the dreams go flowing, flowing,

down through greening springtime grass.

What shall I wish for tonight?

Now all the glowing stars appear,

and the crescent moon shines bright.

-

There is nothing here to fear;

save, maybe, disappearing dreams,

fancies born of drowsy minds

that vanish when you look – moonbeams?

Is he who seeks, he who finds,

or just another lonely child,

wondering where his wishes went?

Look down at placid water mild:

the penny’s gone, the wish is spent.

-

Will I wish upon that star?

Will the wish I wish come true?

Look around, both near and far –

has that wish come true for you?

Where the weeping willows bend,

princesses kiss their knights so bold,

and for them, at rainbow’s end,

there always waits a pot of gold.

-

Bubbles, bubbles, floating by,

pink and purple, blue and green,

shimmer in the soft starlight.

Not everything is as first seen,

yet – maybe wishes do come true.

Look! Fireflies flashing in a jar.

Slowly, slowly, the lid unscrews…

and fireflies dance upon a star.
