He tried to continue seeing her, but soon shame overtook him everytime he would glimpse her. Soon. he began to avoid her, making cheap excuses everytime she called him. He ignored her text messages, and went out of her way in campus.
Three months passed by and they had stopped seeing each other completely. "I am not taking responsibility for that baby." Paolo had declared to himself.
But one day, while chatting away with his newly found girlfriend, Paolo noticed Rica fit as ever, playing basketball with her friends (Unlike Paolo, who was a lazy bum, she liked to work out and keep her grades up.). He paused, staring at her flat belly, rudely ignoring his date. "How many months has it been?" He wondered. Surely she didn't do an abortion? Intrigued, he got up from the bench he was sitting on (not to forget, leaving behind his girlfriend who by now had decided to leave), and called Rica to his side.
"You didn't really think I was pregnant do you?" Rica giggled. Paolo was flabbergasted. "What?! But why would you lie to me like that!" She giggled once again, but her face soon changed to a more earnest expression. "The truth is, I wanted to let you go easy. I have known you for a long time now Paolo, I know that if you knew I was dumping you, your egoistic, masculine pride would get hurt. So I made it up that I was pregnant, so you would dump me instead." He was shocked by what he heard. Just like Rica said, his egoistic, masculine pride wa hurt from finding out that he had been duped.
Allowing his emotions get the better side of his personality, Paolo resorted to shouting and cursing, and throwing a terrible tantrum, finally ending with an exasperated. "But why?"
"Why you ask? Paolo, I'm going to College! I can't goof around anymore! I need a financially responsible, emotionally stable, and studious man! Not just some boy who squanders all his assets on countless dates! You're even failing all your Science tests! When was the last time you even got a C?!" With this Paolo erupted with an overwhelming sense of fury. "(insert censor bleep here) Such (censored) men don't even (censored) exist anymore! (censored) damn it!"
"Tsk. Tsk. Don't use such language Paolo... Now, whatever you say, such men do exist." Rica replied simply.
"Then who?!" He demanded, panting and disheveled.
"Pieter..."
This came as a nasty surprise. He was completely taken aback. "What?!!" He screamed. "Pieter?! As in Pieter Van-de-whatsisname?! The Belgian exchange student?!"
"It's Van de Vurst!" Rica corrected. "He's also a classical choir singer and an accomplished violinist. I will be moving to Belgium with him in two months to study in a University in Brussels. Now, if you will excuse me, I will now leave."p"Rica!" He called after her. "Rica, wait! Don't leave me! We'll work it out!!! Please! Ricaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!"
Since then, Paolo began to mistreat himself. He started smoking and drinking, and going out with hookers almost at a daily basis. After failing in all of his entrance tests in all colleges he tried out for, he moved to California (after pestering his parents to give him his share of the wealth) and attempted to pass himself as a rockstar violinist (???). "I'll prove to her that I'm better than that perfect Pieter when she sees me on TV!! (Insert manical laugh)"
Obviously, he failed miserably in his gamble with fame ("You suck!!!" Throws his beer can at Paolo in the Karaoke Bar), losing all of his money in the process, thus ending up poor broke and jobless.
#Umm... Yeah... This also was a "Paolo had a girlfriend named Rica and got her pregnant. What comes next." excercise in school, alsmost the same as my Johnny piece. The teacher was asking around for an ending and most people were going into the "Soaps and Teledrama" direction. The time was up however, and the teacher said that we should finish the story at home. Being the show-off that I am (hey, I was hoping to make extra points) I was the only one who did finish it (and I got nothing!!), all I received was a crummy "Read before the class HONOR". (Jokes on me right?). I wrote this quickly, and purely for humor. Everyone in class loved it except me.#
