Never Alone.
Arriving
Allisson made her way down to Dainer orphanage for teens, riding her yellow and blue “Honda” bike. Ya, cheap, but that was all she could afford right now. She had gotten at job at the orphanage, as a teacher for options. Allisson would teach swimming.
The orphanage and school was located on the outskirts of Atlanta. The huge building was surrounded by a small forest, but a forest none the less. Allisson finally arrived at the enormous mansion. She parked her bike near the entrance, took off her helmet and grabbed her backpack, full of her things.
Allisson groaned when she saw her hair in one of the mirrors on her bike. Her pony tail was all messed up. She gave her hair a quick brush and put it back up in a pony. Allisson was always embarrassed of her shoulder length, dirty blonde hair. She had green-brown eyes, rimmed with black eyeliner. Otherwise, she thought herself pretty plain, wearing a white t-shirt, a pair of faded blue jeans and a thin, black leather jacket.
Allisson walked into the front hall, and was greeted by an elderly man, about a head shorter that she, wearing a gray suit. “Hello, you must be Allisson.” beamed at her.
“Hi,” Allisson simply replied, and shook the man’s hand.
“Come up to my office, we’ll get you papers, and your room ready,” said, as he turned to the double staircase in the middle of the entrance hall. “oh, yes, and your pool.” He added.
’s office was a circular room, of a sand color, lined with light blue. Allisson looked around and saw pictures of the students and teachers. “Now, miss Parker,” referred to Allisson. She had taken that last name when she started high school . since she was an orphan herself, she did not want to keep her original last name.
“You’ll be rooming with .” continued. “Speak of the devil, there he is!” he pointed to the door, where a tall man was standing. He had brown-black hair and lighter brown eyes. Allisson turned to look at him momentarily, then turned back to . “Room with someone? Him?” she inquired, a note of panic in her voice, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“Yes, miss Parker.” The old man looked through his reading glasses.
Allisson sighed, and turned back to , who was now standing in the middle of the room. She outstretched her hand toward him. “I’m Allisson.” She introduced herself to him.
“Oh, uh, Logan.” He stuttered and shook her hand. “So that’s why they brought in that bed…” Logan muttered to himself, then directed the next statement to . “Yah, go ahead and tell me.”
The man behind the large desk just gave Logan a little glare, and requested politely as ever, “Why don’t you show Allisson to your” he indicated both Allisson and Logan, “room?”
“Sure,” Logan replied, with a glare of his own. He led Allisson out of the room.
“I see you don’t like him very much, hey?” Allisson commented as the two of them made their way down a long hall, leading to Logan’s room. She noticed that he was quite a bit taller than her, now that he was nearer.
“Yah, no, I don’t like him, but he does pay well…” Logan scoffed, opening the door to his room “Here we are.” He said, gesturing Allisson in.
Right when you came in, you could see out though the window on the far wall. At the left wall, there were two large beds, with storm blue covers, and matching top pillows. The walls were maybe half a shade darker, and one of them, a light storm blue. On the left side, was the bathroom door, with an oak chest of drawers on both sides of it. Beside the far bed, was a closet with mirror covered sliding doors.
Allisson came into the room and looked around, then looked behind her, at Logan. “So, which bed’s mine?” she requested. He pointed to the bed nearest the window. “Wow, do you realize how wrong it is of that Dainer guy to put us in the same room?” Allisson grumbled.
“Oh ya. But I was the only one who had a room to myself, so I guess he had no choice…” Logan said. Allisson, smiled, amused at their conversation, and put her things on her bed.
“You wanna see the grounds?” Logan offered.
“Alright.” Allisson replied, removing her coat. It was nice out, so she could do that. The two of them went back down stairs, and to the front hall. Which you couldn’t miss, on account of it being right at the bottom of the stairs… Outside of the front doors there were a bunch of kids, grouped together, looking at something. The cause for the commotion was Allisson’s bike.
Logan gave a tiny snort of laughter, and asked, amused, “Whose crotch rocket?” he grinned as Allisson raised an eyebrow.
“Mine.” She said firmly.
“Ah…oh…I see…” Logan rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “Back off, guys.” He waved the kids off.
After dealing with the bike, Logan led Allisson to her pool. He walked toward the glass fence, which was rimmed with steel. The pool was deep and blue. And full of chlorine. “Oh, wow, that thing’s huge!” Allisson remarked with awe.
‘I’m guessing that there’s going to be a lot of people wanting to join this option, so ya. It’s huge.” Logan said, proudly staring at the pool, as though it were his. He pointed to one of the small buildings, separate from the pool, and said, “All your things are in there, so go right ahead.” He turned and walked back to the mansion.
Allisson walked into the girl’s changing room, and found a black two piece swimming suit, waiting for her. “Just as I requested.” She muttered to herself. A couple minutes later, she was changed and in the pool. The water was cold, but Allisson didn’t mind.
On the other side of the fence, a couple kids walked by, followed by a couple more. All of them started whispering to each other when they saw Allisson. An older girl leaned against the fence. “Are you our swimming teacher?’ she called. The girl had red hair, and was wearing a purple tank top and shorts.
Allisson got out of the pool and wrapped a towel around her waist. “Yes, I’m your teacher.” She said, walking over to the fence. “My name’s Allisson.” She introduced herself.
“I’m Lee-Ann!” the girl exclaimed., and added, “We are going to have so much fun, I know it! I love swimming!” she said, giving a little jump.
“Huh…sure, whatever you say.” Allisson smirked and went to change back into her clothes. “If you consider swimming laps until you’re half-dead fun.” She mumbled under her breath, marking Lee-Ann a little ditz.
Once changed, Allisson went back to the mansion. It was a long trip through the grounds(since she got lost a couple of times…), so she was pretty tired by the time she was climbing one of the double staircases. At the top, she looked down, and saw another group of kids coming toward her. “What is this?” she whispered, frustrated.
“That is a friendly group of teenagers, coming up to say hi.” Said a dictionary like voice behind Allisson.
She spun around and saw Logan, carrying a sketch book. “Oh, thanks for the definition.” Allisson shot, after the surprise of seeing him there melted away. “You teach art?” she questioned casually.
“Yup” Logan said, and started to walk off. “Here come the kids, I suggest you say hi.” He called over his shoulder.
After about a half an hour of going around introducing herself, Allisson retired to her room. Allisson’s and Logan’s room. She got a book out of her backpack, and threw herself onto her bed. “I could get used to this…I might not be good with kids, but what the hey.” Allisson told herself, and opened her book.
