The bible taken literally

Is a bird without flight

Unable to get to heaven

But still saying it is right

When literalism takes over

God’s true word is lost

When most people believe in it

There is a hefty cost

Jesus spoke in parables

So is it with most things

Thinking it through is essential

Now that bird it sings

When you combine reason and faith

You’ll wash upon god’s shores

Once that is accomplished

That flightless bird now soars
