I wore a mask before,

But now I use my hands,

To shield me from the pain,

That broke my dreams and plans.

I will not reveal my eyes,

Or the tears that spill down my cheeks,

This pain isn't new,

It's been here hours, days, weeks.

I hide my eyes, my nose,

My tongue and my split lip,

Hide from light and other eyes,

That might judge or watch tears drip.

I don't know when I'll remove my hands,

And look around with my glossed eyes,

But until then my hands remain,

To keep out all the pain and lies.
